Official Band Biography:Broken Strings started in March, 2001 as an unnamed band somewhere in Borca in a lineup that was quite different than the one we are in today. That "somewhere" is called "Pegaz" and we were thrilled because we were able to record the whole event. We are keeping that tape to this very day and, who knows, we might just one day send it to the some "Funniest audio" competition. :-) At that rehearsal we broke the strings of of the only guitar we had (and it wasn't even ours), so we decided to call the band Broken Strings. Few months later, the first songs were made, and with them came the first changes within the band.



We had our first gig on 1st December 2001 in the Belgrade Youth Center on the Rebel Demo Fest. Then we were in the lineup consisting of: Cuki (drums), Djole (rhythm guitar), Nenad (lead guitar), Stefke (bass) and Bogi (vocals). We performed around 2am in front of a "crowd" of 50-60 people, mostly our friends.



After That, we started rehearsing intensely, but we had some issues with constant band member changes. First, Stefke and Nenad left, to be replaced with Silja (bass) and Misa (lead guitar), and soon after that, Cuki had left to USA and Igor had taken his place. For almost two years, the band functioned like that. we played wherever we could, practised, but essentially stagnated. Finally, in the sumer of 2004. we got ourselves a new lead guitar player, by the name of Nikola Zivanovic - Dzonson. In 2005. very much in shape and eager for a challenge we entered the 39th Zajecarska gitarijada, the biggest contest of rock bands in Serbia, and in spite of a tough competition - we won!



After a year and a half of "complex negotiations" and a bunch of delays and problems, we signed a contract with PGP RTS records and entered the studio to record our debut. And after almost five years! But, it's not that bad, what's important is that we'd got our chance to show what we have to the world.



We spent over a year recordng, mixing and smoothening the album and it's finally finished! Our debut is called "Svaki trenutak ostaje." ("Every moment remains.") and it hit the shelves on 14th December 2007! So, we were proud to say that we're not a demo bend anymore



After the recordings, our old friend and drummer Cuki, returned from the US, and he rejoined the band. The album was a great success, and every single concert after it's publishing, showed that band that they were on the right track.

Sadly, the band had to make another change in line up, and this one was probably the hardest. The charismatic lead singer Bogdan, had to leave the country for educational purposes, so the change was eminent. Surprisingly, a substitute was found very fast, so a close friend of the band, and the former singer of belgrade's heavy band NightFall Marko Capljic Max, was presented as the new lead vocalist.

Now, full of fresh blood and ideas, Broken Strings are working on the new songs and the new album. Some of the songs you have a chance to hear on their live performances, so stay in touch with gig dates. Who knows, maybe your town is next ;)
