Southern California band, SLINKY, has a sound which has been compared to a blend of early Sublime meets the funky SoCal sounds of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This youthful band’s unique blend of funk, punk, and jazz, meets reggae and rock, has a maturity that belies the 17 year old founders of the band.

Slinky was founded in January 2006, at the age of 14, by bassist NICK CAMPBELL and singer/guitar player AARON GIANNINI. After posting flyers around the Los Angeles area, GRAHAM STEPHAN joined Slinky as their first drummer. Since their humble beginnings in Aaron’s garage, the band progressed in leaps and bounds. They played their first live show at the 18th Street Arts Center on April 15, 2006. Soon afterwards, Slinky recorded their first demo, featuring four songs, which resulted in multiple gigs at clubs such as B.B. King’s, 14 Below, the Gig, the Roxy, The Whisky, The Viper Room, Rusty’s Surf Ranch and the Knitting Factory. By 2007, Slinky had become well recognized in these venues around the Los Angeles area.

In the summer of 2008, MAX DELBECQ joined Slinky as their new drummer, and Slinky has taken off since then.

They licensed their song “Deep Within Dreams,” to the NBC show “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” for the June 10, 2007 episode and to the CBS show “The Mentalist” for the episode which aired on April 7, 2009.

One of their newest and most enthusiastic fans is record producer Paul Fox, who is known for having produced records for such bands as XTC, The Sugarcubes (with Bjork), Phish, 10,000 Maniacs, and others. He recently recorded three songs “Ruby Red Lipstick,” “Veronica,” and “It’s Just That Easy” for their first collaboration in the studio which captured their distinctive sound and energy.

The band continues to write and record and will hopefully debut more material for an upcoming EP later this summer. They are constantly growing their fan base beyond their schools and into the LA scene as more and more people are attending their shows.
