The infamous 4th Ward area in Atlanta, GA is what inspired the “voice box of the block”, Slick Pulla, and motivated hoods around the world. Renaldo Whitman, the Kirkwood born rapper, mostly known for his laid back style, melodic flow, and guerilla grind is a member of U.S.D.A (United Street D-Boyz of America) with accompanying members Young Jeezy and Blood Raw.

True to his southern drawl and one-of-a kind lyricist content, Slick compares himself to a street commander whose job is to represent for all his comrades in the trenches. “When I hit the strip all my troops listen while I talk,” says Slick. Similar to his ally Young Jeezy, Slick Pulla chooses not to sugarcoat his lyrics, but rather enlighten his listeners of the harsh reality of a young hustler growing up in Atlanta’s unforgiving 4th Ward streets.

Slick Pulla has paid his dues, patiently waiting on the side for the haters to see and hustlers to hear. With several features on numerous projects, including DJ Drama and Young Jeezy’s Tha Streets Iz Watchin, Trap or Die, and Can’t Ban the Snowman mixtapes, and on “Diamonds” by Slim Thug, Slick has definitely put in over time. Entering the game with his Gangsta Grillz mixtapes, 4th Ward Day (2005) and Election Day (2007), has begun a movement that certifies Slick as a rap phenomenon with nationwide appeal for years to come.

As the next artist to drop from the CTE/Def Jam imprint, SlickPulla is undeniably slicker than your average rapper. With his highly anticipated self-titled debut album set to be released in the summer of 2008, Slick is sure to address sociopolitical issues, educating and motivating the masses, and everyday life. “If you listen to me, you’ll know that I know things,” says the devoted reader of books such as The 48 Laws of Power and Behold a Pale Horse. “I’m here to address the issues that other folks are afraid to address. That’s what we need.”

Cut like a major motion picture with freeze frames of key moments in the day and the life of a thug from Boulevard Ave., the most anticipated album Slick will fully display his unique rhyming skills. Bobbing and weaving like a boxer through the beats, and buzzing and bopping like a piano to its keys reflects the mood of the movement he portrays.

If “street addicts get a buzz from the hustlin’,” then music addicts are to get a buzz from the heat Slick will bring. The streets are watching, eagerly awaiting and listening, hungry for Slick to bring what the hood has been in need for. Soon their hunger will be detained and want for no more. Slick is the south and soon you will hear it from his own mouth.
