A retail store manager. A night cook at a deli/pub. An insurance salesman. A broke ass, Dutch college student. The future of rock; they call themselves SLICE.

SLICE is a four-piece rock band out of Macon, GA, whose music hovers somewhere in middle ground of pop, alternative and straight ahead rawk. Their sound is dynamic, often unifying powerful chord progressions and melodic riffs in the same song. The group incorporates alternate tunings in many of their songs to break the monotony of many studio polished radio-rock bands heard today. They are influenced by the likes of The Marvelous 3, Guster, Flickerstick, Fuel and Incubus to name a few.



SLICE was created, born, and semi-cared for by Ryan and Jason (whose last names will remain anonymous to protect the guilty). In 2000, they began writing music for a then untitled new music project. Fueled by alcohol, a sense of purpose, and not much else, the two wrote furiously until it was decided that two guys getting drunk and playing for an audience of no one hardly counts as a rock band. They needed to play shows.



With a strong set of new original music and the desire to take over the entire world, the pair knew that a full band would be needed to project the massive rock sound that was in their collective heads. They only hoped that they could find other people that were ready for the masses. Here’s what they found.



Frenk, an almost unbelievable young bass player was added to handle the low end responsibilities, and Jason’s older brother, Michael (a local band veteran of sorts) stepped in to round out the massive rock guitar and vocal sounds. They would call themselves SLICE. Trust me, the other band names they came up with were a lot worse. Seriously.



The band has played well over 300 shows to date, from their hometown of Macon, GA, to the rock haven known as Los Angeles, CA. They have been included on compilation albums put together by Atlanta based record labels SBS Records and Shut-Eye records. The band plays to a fan base that gets bigger and bigger with each gig.
