Have you ever wondered what would happen if you combined special education with music and entertainment? Well the answer to your question is simple, you would get Skool Boy. Skool Boy is a dose of energy that can’t be cured with Ritalin. The stage is his classroom and he is bound to provide unlimited distractions from his glamorized cereal box chains that have given him celebrity status, to his custom sunglass frames. His ADHD combined with his unpredictable behavior makes him a certified spectacle to watch.

Skool Boy, born Joshua Undrey Farmer, is a Memphis native who is bringing a new flavor to Southern Hip Hop. Growing up, Skool Boy was influenced by a variety of artists such as Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Bobby Brown, Luke, and Flava Flav. Each has impacted his music or his image in one unique way or another.

Although, Skool Boy had always been a fan of great music, he never really expected to be an artist himself. Skool Boy coincidently fell into the art of rapping while in “skool.” At 14 years old, Skool Boy’s baseball team held its annual banquet and Skool Boy was excited to bring home a trophy to celebrate all of the hard work he contributed during the season. Surprisingly, Skool Boy’s coach let him down, as Skool Boy was the only player on the team not acknowledged by the coach. “I was mad so I started freestylin’ at the banquet ‘bout my coach. People loved it and thought is was funny so I kept on goin’.” This infamous freestyle put him on the map in his hometown and he was certified “Skool Boy” ever since.

Early on, Skool Boy teamed up with a rap group known as “The Graffiti Boys.” The group created local buzz and his high school naturally bought into their hustle as they hammered out his local hits such as “Watch Me Dance” and the smash hit “Ride Swerve” featuring Jibbs. While with The Graffiti Boys, Skool Boy also worked for a record label as a part of the street team. It was then Skool Boy learned the other side of the business and not only learned how to promote himself, but how to make himself standout!

Since then, Skool Boy has matured and emerged into a supreme solo artist ready to give his fans something different yet something special! His hot new single, “Let’s go on a Date,” off his highly anticipated debut solo album already had the Internet buzzing. Skool Boy is no stranger to the stage. He has performed at The Southern Entertainment Awards (2008), DUB Car Show (2008), St. Louis Summer Jam (2008), Baton Rouge Summer Jam (2007), Alabama Christmas Summer Jam (2007), Memphis Crunkfest (2007), and Mississippi Summer Bash (2007). Skool Boy has already given the world a preview of his talent and now he is ready to come full throttle.

“I make music for the general public,” says Skool Boy. “At the end of the day my fans will let you know—I like Skool Boy because he Skool Boy.”
