Formed by Matt Geary in 2000, Skin the Pig are a progressive Metal band that have been playing these British Isles for nearly 10 years now.
Originally from N.Ireland the band relocated to Manchester England in 2004, where it has been based ever since. The band has been through a lot of changes due to one reason or another but has taken all the turmoil in its stride, assimilating all the influences that different members brought with them and evolving with it.
10 Years on, StP have carved a place for themselves by straddling numerous genres and trying to stay away from the theoretical musical norm by thinking outside the box.
'A song isn?t finished until its finished, be it 3 minutes long or be it 10 minutes. Creativity should never be stifled by the wants of the masses but left to find its natural end' The above quote optimises Skin the Pig and because of their writing style. The music has been described as 'bleak but beautiful', with 'catchy heavy riffs coupled with powerful melodic and atmospheric breakdowns. An Epic musical rollercoaster ride that parallels their troubled past and hits the listener with something to think about rather than just mindless mosh.'.
Love them or hate them, Skin the Pig, like their music, will carry on until they find their natural end and hopefully will be around for another good few years yet.

LIVE REVIEWS
Skin The Pig are a much more brutal, in-your-face, and altogether convincing act. Sounding like a cross between Cult Of Luna, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, The Acacia Strain and a sledgehammer to the face, their sound is best summarised as flowers on a grave stone mixing the bleak and the beautiful to stunning effect. Vocalist John is captivating the leader of the pack, ripping his way through tracks like Our Name Is Legion with bursting veins and guttural vocals. Stunning.

Designing the Enemy (2006)
TERRORIZER ---- There is a Majestic Air about Skin the Pig. Thier Material Covers Many bases: Sludgy but Delicate, intense but gentle, puninishing but thoughtful. If A direct Comparison will clear the picture, try Neurosis with their ability to find beauty in noise. Each of the five songs are Crackers, with the best being the nine-minute Epic 'Until the End' that shows them at their bi-polar best. The vocals Flipping between clean sung and a scott Kelly Below. If ever a Band deserved a record Deal in 2006, it is Skin the Pig. (8.5) IW
BORN IN BLOOD----There's no denying the bruising, cathartic qualities of Skin the Pig's embittered outpourings. True, throughout the years the bands sound has matured but this Anglo Irish 5 piece still maintain their capability of creating epic slabs of modern metal
It may well have been 2 years since the last Skin the Pig ep, but opener "The Language of Self Determination" renders that hiatus instantly meaningless; as soon their inimitable hardcore tinged metal drags itself from the speakers like some fiercely intelligent creature, it's as if they have never been gone.
Suffocatingly heavy and extremely dynamic, this does the Neurosis meets Remembering Never sound a great deal of justice. Track number 2, "The Sixth Divide", soon reveals the bands progression and maturity throughout the space of two years. The bands new found ear for dynamics and atmosphere helps add to the intensity of the ep rather than diffusing it.
The 10 minute epic "Until the End" is the strongest track on offer here. The constantly shifting moods throughout the duration help to showcase the bands unique talent to mix Progressive Metalcore with a Neurosis esque dynamic.
With an epic and beautiful finale, Skin the Pig manages to conclude this fantastic ep with a manner only fit for a king.
Mindblowing! (9.5) Boysetsdavies
