Skillshine

Pure and simple, Skillshine is a band with it's roots firmly based in Milton Culture. A result of years of collective musical experience, of life experience, and most importantly, human social experience. Skillshine is music by regular people, for the people who they have grown with. From the bordeom of a small town, to the rapid growth and eventual suburbanization, Skillshine was through it all and their music reflects that lifestyle. Heavily influenced by Reggae, Dub, and Ska music, while still taking a clue from pop and rock songwriting, blends into an easily acessable sound. Taking a cue from the past generations of social change, while still keeping a current new sound.



Over the 3 years the members have been making music together, Skillshine has been through alot. The intial member changes lead to a variety of sounds being tried and tested until the perfect sound was found. Each member brings his own style to the group. Kyle Krane has a naturally talented vocal style with a hip hop influence.Ty Mackenzie is well versed in blues and rock and understands the importance of a song. Kevin Freer as an avid jazz and reggae musician has a groove based mind, which links well with Matt Frazers groove based reggae drumming. Over the years Skillshine has headlined various musical festivals such as Haltonpalloza and Youthfest in '06, and played all over the south Ontario region.



Currently Skillshine is biding there time building a new army. A dedicated fan base, who come in large groups, not just to see a band, but to have an experience. Skillshines live show is truly unique. Seemlessly going from song to song, in order to keep the energy up, the vibes good, and the people dancing. This band is good people, and good times.
