SKIES OF EMBER, that mysterious group of expressionists who dabble into
darkness and melancholia, is a band worthy of its name. The ember skies
glitters, and we drown ourselves in the river of forgetfulness, known as
Lethe. We detach from the cruelties of life, we submit ourselves to
nothingness. We become what we feared most. The very fiber of our being
diminishes with the void. Go out and see them perform, you will forget what
you are and reminisce the past that you really were.

-Michael Capili
“NOCTEM THEATRIKA”

The “Skies of Ember” is an air of wistful contemplation and nostalgia
reinforced by the ardent smolder of the tired sun. Moments that
traverse along the fringes of the abstract and reaffirms through the
dynamics of “blanco y negro” the value of nature as “one great influence”.

-Carlo Del Castillo
“Tulips are green”, “The Scenester” and his very own “Sometimes”.

Histrionicus - SOE started back in the mid 90s’ before the fall of the great
“Club Dredd”, back then they played mostly impromptu sets after awhile
those spontaneity becomes a song, the band comes from the ashes of
“Blinded by Love” a post ethereal / shoegazer group.
In those days they were young seductive like teenage pornstars. ”Dott Seki” founded the “Skies of Ember”.

After the great fall the band release a 6 song demo EP, “The Lost April
Shadows” ( 2000 ) it lead the group to a strange and more fruitful projects
“The Mutual Admiration Society” compilation (“definition records” now
“Terno records”) and “The Uno Documento Compilo” (“documento records”
NY , Manila) w/c both been released overseas.

Nine swooning tracks
Featuring the single “Spinning Around”

The band weaves bloodstained tales about the divine (human), dark love
(like black chocolates and dark beer), and moments of hopeful despair.

Words by “Marco Del Castillo” Published Oct 2003 Pulp Magazine.
The Ember exist: one part exorcism, one part expression, one part
celebration and one part collaboration. All of these, along with their
past experiences and multi faced emotions, add to the signification of
the fact that the band acquired dimension, depth, integrity and passion.

They were, and still are, a jet black ensemble, a beautiful creature that wafts
and weaves its way around shimmery guitars, almost tribal percussion /
rhythms and gorgeously poignant vocals.

To round it all up … “Frank Kafka” provides a perfect summary to the essence,
sensibility and sound of “Skies of Ember”.

“You do not need to leave your room remain sitting at your table and listen.
Do not even listen simply wait. Do not even wait. Be quite still and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked. It has no choice,
It will fall in ecstasy at your feet.”
