Simple was born in 2004 in the head of one Cameron Jones, a Portland, OR transplant from CA who had spent the previous several years playing various instruments in various San Diego bands, including Pinback, Thingy and Physics. It was to be a half-joking, cliche-embracing pop band meant to serve as a respite to all the "serious" music he'd been immersed in for so long.

Simple's first album, released in 2007 (self-titled), somewhat reflected this approach, although Cameron and his cohorts (Scott Hawkins on drums and Joshua Brookoff on guitar) had by that point spent enough time and energy on the band that part of the initial jokiness had worn off.

By the time they started work on their 2nd album in March 2009 with a reworked lineup (Cameron’s brother Ryan Jones on drums and Shiloh Halsey on bass), Simple had sloughed off its hackneyed roots and had evolved into more of an art-pop band. After a year and a half of tracking in their bedrooms/basements/closets, mixing with Jordan Richter at SuperDigital in Portland and (remotely) mastering with Carl Saff in Chicago, the least we can do is finally finished and ready for you to download.
