The success of any original band tends to be an exhausting effort, given lack of response or the amount of work it takes to get noticed. But the persistence and dedication of Northern Indiana hard rock band, Signal, has proven that hard work and empty bar gigs eventually pay off. Founding members, guitarist Steve Dickson and drummer Dave Glesser formed Signal after a promoter suggested they jam with vocalist, Jammie Bosstel. Then after many months of auditions, Signal found bassist Josh Czuk.

Signal’s music is best described as heavy but melodic. Because of their diverse experiences and influences, they are a band you have to hear to believe. They have an original, driving sound that does not mirror any one specific band.

Since their first live performance in March 2004, opening for 90s rockers Sponge, Signal has compiled an extensive resume while traveling all over the Midwest to spread their music. They went on to open for more than 20 national bands including Skid Row, Local H, Scum of the Earth, Trapt, Papa Roach, and Powerman 5000.

Signal, who is sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink and Dickies clothing is also an official Jagermeister band. Thanks to Jager’s sponsorship, Signal opened a night on the 2006 spring Jagermeister Music Tour, featuring Staind, Three Days Grace, and Hurt. Then in November 2007, Signal joined the fall Jagermeister Music Tour for 3 nights, sharing the stage with legends, The Cult, and most recently with Hinder on the Fall 2008 tour.

To date, Signal has released 3 EPs, 1 full length album, 1 compilation CD, will soon release an acoustic EP/DVD, and are currently working on a 2nd full length album. In addition to recording and playing gigs, Signal was awarded runner-up for “favorite heavy/metal band” in Midwest Beat’s 2007 Reader’s Poll. Later that spring 2 signal songs were used in the romance/horror film, The Band From Hell. In late fall 2007, Signal was given the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, Georgia and record 2 tracks, produced by producer/musician Corey Lowery. Lowery is best known for his band Dark New Day, and brother Clint Lowery of Sevendust.

No matter the capacity or importance of the gig, Signal welcomes every opportunity they receive. They accept any occasion to share their music and embrace challenges. They are committed musicians, and their dedication and love for music shows in all they have accomplished together.

Early in 2009, Signal was signed to Dirtbag Music Records. Keep your eyes and ears open for them as they make their presence even more known with this fantastic label!
