CARNIVORA EP (release date: 4/2/10

PRESS:
"After seeing Torches in Trees play to packed house at The Echo, I was eager to check out the new EP to see if their strong live performance translated onto recording. Right from the start, the title track "Carnivora" soars with the lightness of air as its smooth melodies envelop you. Just as you get into the gentle harmonics, dueling vocals and intricate drumming, the song slips into another world, and then it's gone. The first track's indie-rock aesthetic quickly transitions to playful chaos on the second track, "Waltz Around." Carnivora never gets too complex or too simple, sounding like something a more seasoned band than this young group would release. Torches in Trees have found a formula for making music that undeniably works for them."
-Zachary Jensen (L.A. Record)

"Anchored by solid melodies with a poignant melancholy edge, the band plays unhurried, hazy psychedelia that lured me right into the middle of the atmosphere they set out to create."
- Brad Roberts (http://www.feedyourheadtoday.blogspot.com)

"I have to say I love the story of Torches in Trees setting up and playing a guerilla gig outside the Mountain Bar in Chinatown last week after they were denied access to their gig, being underage. They valiantly set up outside in the plaza and played till the cops came."
- Brad Roberts (http://www.radiofreesilverlake.typepad.com)

"The quintet of talented multi-instrumentalists manages to produce sounds that blend together to create what can be described as the musical equivalent of a drug injected directly to your brain as sound waves through those aural receptors we call ears."
- Erick Barrientos (Radio 23 / http://www.aurallife.blogspot.com)

"Any band that plays a guerrilla gig in Chinatown after being told they were too young to play at the venue they had been booked at, is an instant favorite in our book. The surreal combination of beautiful music, rent a cops on bikes and LAPD's finest searching frantically for the power outlet, while suprised shoppers and wanderers looked/cheered them on one night in Chinatown square, is something one cant easily forget. One of our favorite gigs of the year."
