From the small Northern California city of Vallejo, Michael Cooper dreamed of being a police officer. However, that dream would change after he began to play the drums at Solano junior high school in Vallejo California. He than continued to played drums in high school joining the 120 piece Vallejo high apache marching band.

He began playing the guitar in college and eventually he formed a band that a few years later would be known as "CONFUNKSHUN".With the multi-gold group he brought us through the 70s and 80s with hits like Ffun, To Tight, Shake and Dance with Me Got to be Enough and Loves Train. During this wonderus run of hits and touring Michael became a member of the Solano County sheriffs department for 12 twelve years he patrolled the county and laid down the funk. Coopers departure to go solo with Warner Brothers yielded musical wonders like Prove My Love, Dinner For Two, My Babys House and Shoop Shoop.

Michael returned to Con Funk Shun in the mid 90s to tour, making him the only R&B artist to leave a successful R&B group, hit as a solo artist, and then return to the group. With his latest solo effort,"Are We Cool", he proves that like fine wine, his suave signature flavor has only gotten better with time.

Are We Cool is vintage, silk, soul imbued funk. Rhythmic hooks, laid back grooves and hypnotic melodies all serve as the backdrop for 15 tracks laden with love. For instance, the Cds first single"steppin to a love song" has the honor of being one of the Lead songs for the chicago steppin community and Cooper simply channels Marvin Gaye on Since I Had You a testimony to the power of monogamy and devotion. His Marry Me Again could well be the new anthem wedding song as Cooper woos his love partner with fervent sentiment and passion. I Got A Love Jones, on the other hand, is a finger snapping sing a long while with the base heavy 40 Days 40 Nights Cooper puts his mack down on an ex-flame before taking us back to the party with Club Feenz. Music is my mission, reveals Cooper. My sound has stayed essential because the guys and I still actively tour. My musical inspiration comes from my audience, my family and from life. My sound has fueled a generation and that same generation fuels my sound. Are We Cool, Cooper queries? With music like his, the answer is yes, definitely so! We are cool with an album that couldn't be any hotter.
