Music swirls in the soul of Andrew Holbrook, just as he breathes in the air from the mountains that often symbolize his Muse of melodic inspiration. Holbrook's music is not for the faint of spirit. His lyrics churn with emotion, passion, and an unassuming honesty guaranteed to capture the ear - and quite possibly tug at the heart - of an unsuspecting audience. His storytelling talents and vivid descriptions transport you to the places, literal or figurative, and to the lives he describes. You taste the melancholy, feel the wind of his journeys, and hear the swishing of a red tail hawk.

The melodies and full chordale arrangements that accompany the words weave themselves within his masterful percussive finger style to produce innovative, unexpected sounds that embody the soulfulness of his music. Holbrook, who commands attention with an unassuming, observant, and poised demeanor, is unafraid to sing of subjects that many people wouldn't have the courage to even whisper.

He paints tales of feverish love, temptation, and resentment. He shares the color and mood of illusions, of the struggles of mind games, and the follies in accepted cultural conventions. He also takes us to the heights of his gratitude for the beauty and re-creation granted by nature and its accompanying moon.

From the cozy atmosphere at coffeehouses and the unforgiving airwaves of radio showcases to the open skies at dude ranches, Holbrook's live performances fill venues with currents of deep sentiment. He transmits his music of commitment, disappointments, discovery, and conflicts of the heart. He exudes personal philosophies that he freely shares from the depths of his musical soul.
Holbrook soars in a creative, unblemished whirlwind that's fresh, daring, alluring. His music is meant to be experienced.

For proud father, Andrew this is a bittersweet time as the girls are moving into the spotlight and dear, sweet Dad is moving into the background and letting his gifted daughters take up the music mantle. SHEL has been a labor of love since 2001 and for Andrew, a 16 year musical journey. He will still be on stage offering his tasty guitar accompaniment and encouraging tips from his strong background in song writing and arranging. Both Andrew and Lynn Holbrook, the girls’ mother, have instilled in their children the strong desire to develop their God given creative gifts and the fruit of that labor is bearing some amazing music for a new
generation. We hope you agree! SHEL

Andrew recommends Michael Bashkin's guitars.
