If you haven’t heard Texas-grown singer/songwriter, Shane Parker, you’re missing out. A favorite among fans of all types of music, Shane has the ability to transcend genres while performing both original and cover songs with his unique, soulful style. Parker began playing gigs and writing songs at the age of fifteen in Brownwood, Texas. When he graduated high school, Shane moved to Austin, Texas where he co-founded the band Dirty Pool opening gigs for Texas blues legend Van Wilkes. He then moved to Arlington, Texas with friends from Brownwood to form alternative band Tenmile. After gigging across the metroplex for a while, Parker moved to Lubbock and enrolled in Texas Tech University. Shane met up with some Hub City favorites and formed the band Citizen Groovy. They quickly began dominating the Lubbock music scene, gaining notoriety in Lubbock and throughout Texas, opening the doorway for performances with many national acts including:

Los Lonely Boys, Blue October, and Ted Nugent.

Due to creative differences, Citizen Groovy split up and Parker began his solo career. Coming back to his country roots, Shane continued writing songs and soon caught the ear of manager Bryan Coleman of Union Entertainment Group (Nickelback, Candlebox, Saliva, Oleander). Parker was given the opportunity to showcase for a spot on the Union Entertainment Group roster along with national favorite Maroon 5. Coleman contacted Shane and offered him a spot with UEG and a deal with Urge Records, a subsidiary of Capital Records in L.A.

After the contracts were signed, Shane began writing and recording songs for the new album. He began opening at large Texas venues for national acts like: Jonny Lang, Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Bowling For Soup, and Vallejo.

Just a few months after signing, the record label split from Union Entertainment Group and eventually dissolved. Bryan Coleman began contract negotiations with Warner Chapel Nashville looking for a new label home for Parker. Shane moved to Nashville and learned the ins-and-outs of the music business from seven-time AMA award winner Bill Graham (Roger Miller, Glen Campbell) and vocal legend Rick Yancey (The Remingtons). It didn’t take long for Shane to realize he didn’t like the Nashville way and he found his way back to Austin and began gigging with a group of all-star Austin musicians. The Shane Parker Band was born. The band continues to be a house favorite in venues across Texas and has several singles playing throughout the world on a number of internet radio stations as well as Texas radio.

Shane Parker currently resides in Lubbock where he is writing, gigging, and recording; focusing on acoustic gigs. Maybe he has played at your venue before. If so, you know the place will be packed and the sales will be high. If not, just give him a call, book a date, and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed. As one Texas Music Theater Radio listener posted on the TMTR website, “I heard Shane Parker perform this past weekend and was blown away. Holy S*@, that son of a mother is awesome. If you get a chance, you have to check this guy out! I don’t know the music business, but I know music, and it’s a crime that he’s unsigned! Who knows though, that may be the way he wants it.”
