Think Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys if he had grown up with hippie parents, surfing in Southern California instead of landlocked in Ohio. It feels right to claim this as Surf Rock but it's a far cry from the acoustic strumming of Jack Johnson and has more in common with early Americana like the Byrds and the Grateful Dead but with heavy influence from the Motown/Stax inspired Blue Eyed Soul.
