"**Limited edition of 300 copies on acid yellow wax with photocopied A4 insert** Rome, Italy's Sea Dweller make a gorgeous racket on their heavenly 2nd album of shoegaze dreampop. Returning to Upside Down Recordings after 2008's 'Underwater Town', they've seriously refined their sound in line with their too-obvious-to-mention influences. Head-flossing melodies made from reverb-effected and delayed guitar treatments swoon about vintage Alesis drum machines in clouds of old Crumar synths and opiated pop vocals giving the impression the band are playing with eyes shut, moving only just enough to play their instrument while lost to the ecstatic reverie - or then again that might just be due to the very fine mixing job by lead voice and main man Crstiano Carosi. Proper lush. RIYL My Bloody Valentine, Pink Playground, Ride!"
Norman Records "Recommanded release may 2012"
"Also on the Upside Down label this week is this little beauty by Sea Dweller which is about as far removed from the Nastro album as possible. If you're into epic shoegaze then you're in the right place. It's one genre of music I just don't tire of it at all when it's done this well. This falls plumply into that category as it's done bloody brilliantly. Partly down to the production which encapsulates all those great shoegaze tricks used by bands like MBV, Ride, Cocteaus etc. The songs themselves are well crafted indie pop numbers and if someone played me this now and told me it was a lost classic I'd quite happily believe them (being all gullible like that). Jangly guitars, breathy vocals, feedback and a general shimmery haze are filling my ears and making me feel kinda happy! They're doing for shoegaze exactly what A Sunny Day In Glasgow did a few years ago and it's on a par quality wise. Timeless indie pop of the highest quality! You just wait til you hear some of the wonky guitars and fuzzy guitars. you'll shit your leg right off you will. Yellow vinyl edition of 300!"

"The new album from one of my favourite modern shoegaze bands, Sea Dweller, and its just full of lush layered dream pop. "Jump line" has it all, layers of noise, breathy ethereal vocals, rapid fire beat, pop glory in its hooks. Terrific track. "Flashes" is my favourite track however, a mesmeric epic of a track with wonderfully deadpan vocals and guitar explosions at all the right moments.
"Marion" has plenty of low-level guitar grind, female vocals adding a new dimension. As well as lush noise there is a bit of quirkiness too such as "Orange tram" which has a real blissed down psychedelic air. This is a wonderful noisepop journey, all on beautiful yellow vinyl too.
I really can't fault it in any way even if i wanted to, contender for album of the year yeah?"

"Sea Dweller is a Roman trio that perform intelligent, emotional music heavy on guitar effects with a gauzy, warm atmosphere. The band is made up of Cristiano Carosi on vocals and guitars, Paola Mattaroccia on bass and vocals and Paolo Miceli on guitars and background vocals. Not much else is known about the trio, but they have plenty of photos on their myspace and Facebook pages and have a few videos on Youtube along with song samples from their many releases. What is known is evident is their various influences and their love for the sounds produced by the peripherals of the electric guitar: pedals, filters, tunings, distortion, delay and echo, and anything else that can express the otherworldly noises in their heads.
First track Jump Line invites you in with a spare drum beat, motorized bass pulse and languid guitar shimmers. Flashes starts without preamble, a straightforward enough rock song, with subdued vocals more for texture than intelligibility, bright guitar lines are introduced, faded away, and brought back like colored scarves being juggled in the air, slowly revealing different moods and personalities each time they are repeated, making Flashes the most replayable songs in recent memory. I See the Sea From Here opens with a distant echo of guitar chatter, bringing to mind the works of composer Steve Reich, the band piles on layers of strummed guitar and Carosi's vocals along with Mattaroccia's bass join in. Carosi and Miceli add even more guitar lines with slashing accents, building imperceptibly to a joyous climax. Marion continues the rush, Carosi and Mattaroccia trading vocals to a pumping beat and jangling guitars. Salt slows the beat down for a no less intense effect, vocals and guitars swimming in an ocean of echo, mesmerizing the senses. Freefall closes the album in bittersweet fashion, the vocals matched by an equally forlorn mood, a lovely guitar melody gets a counterpoint from a distorted churning motif."

"Sea Dweller's new record 'Signs Of A Perfect Disaster' is now available for pre-order, take a listen to the album cut 'I Sea The See From Here'. This follows the lead track 'Flashes', released last month. Early spins indicate that Sea Dweller's newest is also their most polished, considered and well delivered offering to date. The Italian shoegazers release 'Signs Of A Perfect Disaster' through Upside Down Recordings on April 5."
Drowned In Sound
"Italian trio Sea Dweller's Signs Of A Perfect Disaster is another of this year's finest releases to date. Available on "acid yellow" vinyl, it's worth seven euros of anyone's money. "
