The early 1980s were strange times. Punk rock had crashed and burned. New Romantics just didn't cut it. Goths turned out to be wimps and Brit Poppers were still in primary school. Times were bad. But, there was a dark light at the end of the tunnel. The rockin' dead were rising, and hordes of zombie Elvis freaks gave birth to the bastard love child of Rockabilly, astride an open grave. Psychobilly had arrived, snarling, biting and spewing vitriol. Thousands were infected. Quiffed up and fucked up, they tore the rock and roll bible apart, setting their own agenda, their own style and their own coda to the legacy of Jerry Lee, Hazel Adkins, Charlie Feathers, Link Wray and countless other quasi-heretical icons. And, for a time, voodoo ruled the stages and dance floors of hundreds of halls, clubs and pubs across the globe.

Psycho Cats brings together footage of legendary bands like the Meteors, Guana Batz, Frenzy, Demented Are Go and King Kurt, along with many cult classic treats from the Psychobilly scene's bizarre extremes. Covering nearly twenty years of rockin' mayhem, this film is proof positive of the enduring influence of raw mutant rockabilly. With a new generation of teenaged guys and ghouls embracing the primal rhythms of hell bound rock 'n' roll, it looks like el Diablo is set once again to release his mongrel pack of twisted, politically incorrect hep cats onto the scorched earth.
