Screaming Citizens are a 4 piece groove rock band with a flute from Llandudno (North Wales), Liverpool and Manchester. Brothers Scott McDonald (lead vocal and flute) and Fraser McDonald (guitar and vocal) met Kevin Mooney (bass guitar) in school and later met Jake Woodward (drums) when gigging at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.
Drawing influences from artists such as The Dave Matthews Band, Jamiroquai, Incubus, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Rage against the Machine (list goes on). They have been described as a fresh funky grooved Jethro Tull crossed with Queens of The Stone Age. Together they've performed in venues like the 02 Academy (Liverpool), Scala (London), Night & Day Cafe (Manchester), The Cavern Club (Liverpool) and Manchester Academy amongst many others.
They’ve done a tour of Germany, supported bands such as Wheatus and The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, had airplay on Japanese and German radio, played for the entire Channel 4’s Hollyoaks cast and crew at the annual after ball party and in 2009 they won the chance to perform at the Maldives Breakout Festival beating hundreds of bands from all over the UK. They flew out there in December, lived on a yacht, appeared on the national TV channel, national radio and performed in the capital Malé for thousands of Maldivian music lovers. They have also just become resident band at the famous music venue The Cavern in Liverpool.
In August 2010 they released their debut album ‘Shock and Awe’ to great acclaim from their ever growing fan base. Their live shows are jam-packed with energy and incredible musicianship. Not to be missed
