DESCRIPTION:
Jackie Chen performs a Chopin Barcarolle (Boat Song). This video was taken at our January 15, 2013 Music for the Mind Concert presenting "Kretzer Kids in Concert."

The Kretzer Kids is a group of extremely talented musicians, ages 13-18, who entertain regularly at local nursing homes, assisted living facilities and various prominent venues throughout Palm Beach County.

Jackie, 15, is a sophomore piano major at the Dreyfoos School of the Arts. She has studied piano with Mr. Harold Brown since 2005 and is currently a student of Ms. Ruo Balko. Jackie has performed in several venues and competitions, including the 2012 annual PBAU International Piano Festival. In 2012, Jackie placed 1st in the Palm Beach Music Teachers Scholarship Competition and 2nd in the Boca Delray Music Teachers Association Scholarship Competition. She has also participated in the National Federation of Junior Festivals and earned superior ratings in piano solo for six years and in piano concerto for five years. In the summer of 2012, she attended the FSU Honors Piano Camp on scholarship. This is Jackie's second year as a Kretzer Kid and she loves the opportunities it gives her to share her passion for music with others.

The Music for the Mind Concert Series is held on the third Tuesday of every month at The Harriet Himmel Theater in CityPlace. Each concert presents a different musical group from local area schools and community organizations. All ticket sales go to the performing group.

Since its inception in 2002, the series has given over 8,500 young musicians the opportunity to perform and has raised over $290,000 to help keep music in our community.
