SAVANA STATION

Savana Station was formed in 2002 and plays a mixture of reggae, soul, latin and funk. The 9-headed band already had a lot of air-play on Belgian national radio channels and performed on Belgium 's most beautiful stages, such as the Ancienne Belgique (as supportact for Horace Andy and later on Sergento Garcia), Handelsbeurs, Vooruit, Petrol, Sfinksfestival, Pole Pole and many others Savana Station released 1 album called Clash on Evil Penguin Records and just released a second album on Lc Music: The hubbub of city streets, with contributions of Rudeboy (Urban Dance Squad), Roy Paci (Legendary Sicilian trumpetplayer), Lize Accoe and Emma Louisa Silva (new discovery!). Single Mind The Frequency made it to the nr.4 position of Belgian Magazine HUMO's top 20 and the videoclip of Bairo Alto made it to the number 1 spot of JIM-TV's "Dit is Belgisch". The musicians of savana all have their own projects. Philippo Fierens is active in the European dance-scene (Releases on Sonar Collective, Jalapeno-records, Chez records., etc), David van Belleghem (drums) is one of the foundators of DE LA VEGA that has his roots with Looplizzard, a band that recorded a record with Dub-wizz Adrien Sherwood in the 90's, Jo Hermans (trumpet) plays with DAAN and many others, Vincent Brijs (Saxophone) has his own Antwerp-based jazz/hyper-funk band BRAZZAVILLE (winners 2007 Blue Note-competition) and is very active in the Antwerp Jazz-scene, Andres Fuentealba (bass) is a reggae/dub/oldscool funk'n soul dj, Eduardo Vega(guitar) has his own jazz-quartet and is also active with Belgian ska-band PROJECTO SECRETO, Gabriel Valeria (percussion) played with several Belgian latin-groups such as EL TATTOO DEL TIGRE, Pieter Lamotte (trombone) played with dozens of bands such as FLAT EARTH SOCIETY and RAYMOND VAN HET GROENEWOUD and even went on tour with, believe it or not.DEEP PURPLE.Last but not least: Michiel De Malsche (keys) is active as classical and film/theatre-composer Bringin all these crazy guys together resulted in SAVANA STATION, a multicultural musical project created to spread some positive vibes and to get you on the dance-floor!!
