Ruiz are three guys in their mid-twenties who play their own version of energetic and groovie rock and roll. Although they began back in 2005 as a two-member local curiosity, their current lineup dates from mid-2006. In that year, they self-released EP Taste! and made a „partisan" video for the song „Porn Stars from Mars", which has become a mini legend. Shot in just a few hours, the video stayed on the first place of the charts of a Croatian Television youth program. The band has played some seventy concerts in Croatia and Slovenia, including major festivals such as VipINmusic Festival, Art&Music, Priredba and Barufe. In Slovenia, after winning the regional band contest YoungGunZ Tour 2008, they played at the country's most prominent festivals: LENT, TRNfest and ŠKISova tržnica and established excellent contact with the audience in Slovenia. They did mini European tour includimg concerts in Italy, Slovenia and Poland. In early 2009 a debut album, Erupt!, is released on Sonic Doom Records. It's a sort of "the best of" songs created and played over the past three years. The album was recorded on analog tapes and mastered by Bob Katz, a three-time Grammy winner.
Combing the aesthetics of Kyuss and Nirvana, dance elements of Gang of Four and Rapture, and the unrestrained playing by At the Drive-In, Ruiz have achieved a distinctive author's expression which is difficult to genre categorize. Anyone who has ever heard Ruiz knows that the music is furiously played direct pop songs that resound contagiously in one's ears and those who have heard them live have witnessed the explosiveness of their performance. For Ruiz the year 2009 will be marked by the promotion of their first album but also by recording and probably finishing a new album. *************************************************************************************
Ruiz je trojac koji svira svoju varijantu energičnog i plesnog rokenrola. Kombinirajući estetiku Kyussa i Nirvane, plesne elemente Gang of Four i Rapture te neobuzdano sviranje At the Drive-In-a, Ruiz je postigao osobit autorski izričaj kojeg je vrlo teško žanrovski odrediti. 2006. godine samoizdali su EP „Taste!" i sa istog snimili "partizanski" spot za pjesmu „Porn stars from Mars" koji postaje hit u emisiji za mlade Briljanteen. Najveći uspjeh benda je pobjeda na međunarodnom natjecanju mladih bendova YounGunZ Tour koje se svake godine održava u Sloveniji. Nakon pobjede nastupili su na najznačajnijim slovenskim festivalima: LENT festival, TRNfest i ŠKISova tržnica. Početkom 2009. u izdanju Sonic Doom Recordsa bend izdaje prvi dugosvirajući album naziva „Erupt!" koji osvaja kritiku i nominaciju za Zlatnu Kooglu, ali zbog ignoriranja masmedija ne nalazi put do šire publike. Album je sniman analognim tehnikama na trake, a masterirao ga je čuveni Bob Katz, trostruki dobitnik nagrade Grammy. Bend je do sada odsvirao osamdesetak koncerata u regiji i šire među kojima i neke od velikih festivala poput VipINmusic, Art&Music, Priredba i Opatijske Barufe. Prošlu godinu osim izdavanja debi albuma obilježile su i 2 turneje po Poljskoj gdje su ovo ljeto na Slot Art Festivalu osvojili brojnu publiku. Svi koji su ikada čuli Ruiz znaju da sviraju vratolomno žestoke i neposredne pop pjesme koje zarazno odzvanjaju u ušima, a oni koji su ih vidjeli uživo upoznali su eksplozivnost njihova nastupa. Bend je trenutno u studiju gdje dovršava drugi album.
