Born on the 8th February 1974 in Manchester, Jamaica, Keith Powell Jr, began his musical career at the very early age of 12 playing the guitar. Coming from a musically background and with his father being one of the most prominent musical figures within Jamaica, renown for his guitar playing, meant both Keith’s musical experience and professionalism was initiated at a very early age. Although primarily learning to play the guitar, through his father’s influence, he soon began to experiment with the guitar, primarily the “bass guitar”.

As his ever expanding reputation grew, so also did his recognition within the record industry. This meant the initiation into primarily studio session employment, where he had the fortune to work with such artists as Ken Booth, President Brown, Culture Knox, Garnett Silk, just to name a few.

At the age of 24 he came to Germany where Keith got involved with a new music scene, quickly he decided that his musical career could only benefit, both with experience and financially, from a commute to Germany. As his employment as a bass player amplified, his interest in vocals became apparent, especially as his frequent visits to Jam Sessions became a center point of convergence for him and his colleagues, where he was repeatedly requested to venture into singing. His musical talent did not solely lie with his bass, but also with his singing “Ragga” style, where he became his telling artist name “Roughhouse”. Subsequently he began receiving engagements both for studio recording with artists like Fantastische 4, Gentleman, Patrice and Max Herre, and live shows such as Summerjam, Chiemsee Reggae, Splash, Rock Am Ring and many more famous events in Europe.

Realising the potential and advantages within the forming of his own band, he subsequently formed the “KP Crew”, initially for the backing of D-Flame, Jamaica Papa Curvin and Zoe, Consequently a joint album production between D-Flame and the KP Crew has been completed, (Unaufhaltsam). Roughhouse received 2 awards at the 2005 German reggae awards.

With the experience that he gathered, he was encouraged by his close friends and family to create a solo-album. The album “MY INTENTION” is a combination of different styles of music from various cultures. It also features, Gentleman, Patrice, Jamaica Papa Curvin and Shocking Murray.

His intention can be clearly seen in his involving of musicians from all over the world. ROUGHHOUSE's intention is all about unity.
