Founded in 2003, Rostrum Records is an independent label that has been developing and releasing the next wave of popular recording artists.

With huge success by Rostrum’s own Nitty (Rostrum/Universal Records) and Wiz Khalifa (Rostrum/Warner Bros.), the label has gone on to sign much anticipated artists Scott Simons, Donora, Vali Porter, S. Money, and the resurfaced 1988 “Top Shelf” recordings (Big Daddy Kane, Grand Puba, MC Lyte, etc.).

Wiz Khalifa prepares to take on 2009 with a new single and his debut Rostrum/Warner Bros. album. Tastemakers and radio PDs have taken notice, and the internet has been buzzing with Wiz's video blogs and weekly freestyles. Wiz's single "Say Yeah" climbed the charts last year to be a Top 25 record. With features in Rolling Stone, XXL, Allhiphop.com, Vibe, and his video debuting on MTV Jams, Wiz will be sure to continue putting Pittsburgh on the map and the industry in check.

Scott Simons' highly anticipated debut EP "The Start of Something" features all new original material highlighting Simons' unique sound of synth and piano-driven melodic pop. Scott has been signed by major independent publisher Bug Music/Windswept, and, as a songwriter, Simons' is managed by Sandy Roberton at World's End Management in Los Angeles. Scott has been working with and writing for artists on Mercury, Island Def/Jam, Atlantic, Epitaph Records and more.

Donora is the newest addition to the Rostrum roster. They are a three-piece band from Pittsburgh, PA, where they have built a strong following since forming a few years ago. They have just released their debut, self-titled album, which was dubbed " the catchiest release of the year" by local press. Donora has shared the stage with many national acts, including Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah! and Tokyo Police Club, among others. Their music has recently been used on MTV Cribs, as well as in numerous movies set to be released this year.

Rostrum Records’ main focus is on artist development. This emphasis has been the driving force behind the label’s current success.
