"Her delightfully involving songs feature page - turning narratives and piano detail as elegant as classic architecture" - Paul Sexton, music journalist and broadcaster
"Elodie is the heroine of a nefarious tale that could have come from the pen of Pat Barker or Jean Rhys. The vignette is crisply addressed by Gregory over the top of some ebullient piano riffs with just the right amount of cagy menace" - Rob Crossan, BBC
British singer-songwriter and Royal Academy of Music graduate Rosabella Gregory, is an award-winning music-fiend. Her late grandfather (who lived to be 101) liked to recall a simple statement she made when she was 6: "i want to create, compose and perform music".
Rosabella has performed her music in New York City, Paris, Barcelona and throughout the UK, including supporting the legendary, Jools Holland. One of her favourite experiences to date is her live BBC radio 2 session with "Whispering" Bob Harris. Other career highlights include collaborating with Bob James, and winning the International Prize in the 2007 New York Songwriter's Circle Song Contest, where Grammy award-winning producer Russ Titelman compared her to "a young Joni Mitchell".
Recent performances include a double-bill at the Southbank "Alchemy Festival": guest-performing alongside virtuoso Dr L Subramaniam, at Queen Elizabeth Hall; followed by a concert of her original material at the Royal Festival Hall.
She describes her style as "classical songwriting with a filmic twist, infused with improvisational elements" where "the storytelling aspect is the key".
As a session musician, and string arranger, Rosabella has worked with Delilah, Natalia Kills, Cee Lo Green, Craig David and Busted to name a few.
Rosabella's original compositions have already gained her syncs in movie soundtracks: 'Big Font Large Spacing' and more recently the Bruce Willis film 'Lay The Favourite', as well as numerous commissions including the official launch theme 'See Your World' for Life.com.
Rosabella played to a full-house at her Pizza Express Jazz Club debut in summer 2012 and will perform her debut at the legendary 606club in january 2013.
She has also been invited back to Whispering Bob Harris' sunday show, to play some songs live and have a chat this coming January!
