MarQell is a young energetic sign that R & B is taking a turn, no longer regulated to the boundaries of New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. R & B is alive and kickin’ it in mainstream America. With artists like Destiny’s Child, Lil’ Flip and Brook Valentine fresh out of Hip-Hop’s latest discovery; Texas. MarQell stands ready to deliver his own brand of soul.
From his beginnings in Dallas, Texas. MarQell, born into a musical family, began playing piano at age five. By his eighth birthday, MarQell was already playing in his father’s band. He then spent his early teens honing and expanding his passion for music first as a DJ, and then as a singer in his first group “Rebel Bass”, who were the hottest act at local talent shows, and house parties.
With his roots deep in the Hip-Hop movement of the early 90’s, his talent and taste were influenced by the talented musicianship of acts like Guy, R. Kelly, and Baby Face. These influences are evident in MarQell’s gift and passion for writing, arranging, and producing. Teaming-up with fellow collaborator Z, MarQell and Z formed an upstart company “Ro’Runnerz Productions”, in the early 2000’s. Together they’ve written and produced numerous songs for MarQell as well as many other regional artists. Looking to expand his fan base, MarQell is currently performing throughout the Southwest region with his band “Brown”.
Given MarQell’s range of talent he stands ready and eager to deliver; from Up-tempo R&B, to Turntable laced Hip-Hop, to soulful ballads, his smooth yet unique vocal sound. “MarQell is talent untested.”
