After his village was destroyed in the midst of a drug war, Frank Melendez fled to the US with his mother and younger sister. His father was killed and they were left homeless. From the age of twelve, francois has experimented with various mind-altering chemicals and explored music, dubbing himself "the cuban ronald mcdonald" in the midst of a trip resulting from a mushroom/speed experience gone awry. He began building crude, stringed instruments in the mid-90's and performed under "RIVERVERB" in 1996 with six other musicians (one of which he knew). Following years of drug and alcohol abuse, he finally cleaned-up in 2000 and brought RIVERVERB back in 2004 with Leon Hyatt. Leon died of heroin overdose shortly after and Frank carried on in honor of his fallen brother. The performance is an improvisational ritual. It is both a study in minimalism and an attempt to bring into the consciousness the (bad) acid/hero's journey. He brings you to the entry of chapel perilous, points to the door with a smile, and begins a ritual with the intention of inviting the gods of chaos over for tea and menthols.
