Spawned from madness, RITUAL TORTURE is a death metal band from San Diego, California. Creating an apocalyptic atmosphere with a punishing, take-no-prisoners rhetoric, thrashing riffage, relentless drumming onslaught, and a malevolent dual vocal assault, RITUAL TORTURE brings an unrelenting sound of impending doom upon the listener.
Seven years after its original conception in 2001 as death/grind monsters GUTROT, RITUAL TORTURE became the new moniker of the band as the style diverted to a morbid. insidious style of death metal by Steve Pearce (bass/vocals 2001-present), Jeff Koretke (guitar/vocals 2001-present), Jesse Jensen (lead guitar 2005-present), and Rick Carter (drums 2007-present). From opening for major acts to destroying backyard shows, RITUAL TORTURE quickly built a reputation for its energetic live performances.
The Fall of 2008 witnessed the self-produced demo CD, “Rise of the Fallen,” which garnered attention from Sweden-based label, Blood Harvest Records, releasing the demo on cassette in 2009 with alternate cover artwork through its tape label, Zombie Ritual Tapes. A 7" vinyl release, "Void of Chaos," is currently in the works, set for a late 2010 release through Blood Harvest Records, continuing to spread RITUAL TORTURE's message of death and madness throughout the world.
