With their earsplitting sound, it may come as a surprise to learn that they have teamed up over the past couple years with Grammy Award winning producer Steve Hodge. Hodge is known for his work as an engineer under Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at the now extinct Flyte Tyme Studios in Edina, MN. Rise or Rust began recording there before the project was moved to a new studio at the Institute of Production and Recording (IPR) in Minneapolis. Hodge has previously worked on more than 40 No. 1 Billboard hits mostly in the Pop and R&B charts. He won a Grammy Award in 2001 for his remix of Janet Jackson's All For You. When asked about the bizarre choice to take on the Rise or Rust album, Hodge said he wanted to do the polar opposite of what he'd done in the past.

Don't think for a moment that Hodge's background has taken any power or raw energy from the band's sound. Rise or Rust is more musically and lyrically charged than ever. Sabotage Will Set Us Free brings out the band's diverse sound that Hodge was able to help them find.

Rise or Rust has become well-known around the Twin Cities sharing the stage with numerous national and regional acts including The Exploited, A Wilhelm Scream, The Groovie Ghoulies, Small Towns Burn A Little Slower, Dropping Daylight, The Heiruspecs, and Twisted Sister (.yes, Twisted Sister). The wide range of genres these bands cover is an indication of Rise or Rust's appeal. They will play for anyone willing to listen and win over audiences you wouldn't expect them to.

Rise or Rust's history goes back to middle school where they began as best friends. Since then they have created music that has literally spanned a musical spectrum from oldies to hardcore punk. The band has finally found a style where they feel at home, a style that can't help but spark energy and sing-alongs from the crowd.
