Born In Chapel Hill, North Carolina on January 20 1986. Mario Jones, better known as (RIO) grew up in a small town called Pittsboro, North Carolina, out in the country, Raised By His Grandmother. He then moved to Sanford, North Carolina. She is a very passionate Christian lady and church was a regular part of life for him. Going to bible study, church on Sundays, and singing in choirs was the routine. At age 10 Rio’s grandmother had enrolled him in piano lessons and bought him his first keyboard for Christmas. Rio began to play at church for the children’s choir and quickly started to love music. By Age 14 Rio was playing everything he heard on the radio by ear on his keyboard. Making all of their beats over on his keyboard for fun and making sure they sounded almost identical. Rio’s friends started to notice that he was really good and since they were rappers they told him that he should start making beats for them. By age 16 He was taking his keyboard to school at Northwood High in Pittsboro entertaining the whole cafeteria by playing requested songs on the keyboard or making beats live for everyone to listen to. By age 19 Rio was known pretty well in his city and a few other surrounding cities for being Nice with the music and working with as many of the local artists as possible. Shortly after that Rio met Joey Walden (Dub) as he was in the process of constructing a Recording Studio. Rio asked could he intern there and learn things about music from Dub. After doing that for a while, Rio was able to start working at the studio and collaborating on music with people that came there to record and work on projects. On Friday, June 30th 2006, Rio attended 102 JAMZ' Super Jam, an annual summer concert starring some of the hottest artists in hip hop. Posing as an employee from 102 Jamz, he was able to get backstage, he was then able to introduce himself to Three 6 Mafia’s road Manager, Paul Wall, T-pain, DJ Drama, and the whole Grand hustle family. Rio passed discs to everyone twice to make sure they had his music. By Sunday morning Rio got a call from a woman at Grand hustle saying “we liked your music, when can you be in ATL?” He then went to Atlanta to meet with Malcom Bush from Grand Hustle. While out there the next Morning Rio finds out his father lives in Atlanta and contacts him. This would be the first time they ever met. For various reason things did not work out with the Grand hustle situation while out in Atlanta. When Rio got back to NC the word had spread to a lot of people about the situation and so many more artist started wanting beats from him. Over the Years Rio went on to work with artists all throughout the country. Major artists as well as indie artists. By 2009, Rio Has been able to Work with Mike Jones, Chaley, Ricco Barrino, Petey Pablo, Freekey Zeekey, Dipset, just to name a few. Rio was nominated for 2009 North Carolina Music Producer of the Year, he won that award in April 2009 at the Ncuma’s. Also Rio produced one of the biggest records in NC of 2009 “Bitch I do numbers” by P-Wonda. That record is in full rotation in multiple states, featured in itunes, facebook, myspace, etc. Reaching 1 on the countdown on some of the hottest radio stations in NC. It has received attention from labels such as def jam. Also having the opportunity to work with vh1 in 2009, and producing the title track for the film “A Date With Destiny” set to be released in theatres Nationwide In 2010 by Sony. His goal is to create a movement in North Carolina similar to those in other places as well as to be known as one of the elite music producers from North Carolina. Still unsigned Rio is on the grind searching for the right management and waiting for the right deal to come his way.
