JOHN RINEHART, Pianist

This site was created to showcase the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach as played by one of the 20th century's great unknown pianists, John Rinehart. John is joined by pianists Jennifer Rinehart and Dorothy Ohl in the performance of the Concerto for Three Pianos.

Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach, Germany in 1685. A musician of the Baroque Era, he was known more as an organist than a composer and thus never gained the fame or recognition needed to fund tours of his work outside his homeland of Germany. Bach sustained a living as a musician working under various courts and churches throughout Germany, resulting in a great deal of published sacred works in addition to his secular catalogue. Some of his more famous compositions include the Brandenberg Concertos, Goldberg Variations, The Well Tempered Clavier, Mass in B minor and The Art of Fugue. Bach died in Leipzig, Germany in 1750. His works remained little known and uncelebrated until Felix Mendelssohn discovered them in the 19th century, resulting in a swell of performances and creating his much deserved reverence within the musical community as well as the public. J.S. Bach is now considered one the greatest composers of all time.

JOHN RINEHART has a MAIN page and SECOND page on the friends list below for anyone interested in knowing more about his life and hearing his compositions as well as other performances. Also visit his HAYDN MySpace, MOZART MySpace, BEETHOVEN MySpace, CHOPIN MySpace and BRAHMS MySpace pages showcasing 4 performances each and a DEBUSSY MySpace account featuring one performance (En Blanc et Noir).
