RIFF, hailing from Paterson, New Jersey, best known for their scintillating performance in the film, "Lean On Me" and their chart-topping Billboard singles, "My Heart Is Failing Me", "If You're Serious" and "Everytime My Heart Beats". Riff is one of the music industry's vocal ensembles greatly influenced by classic doo wop and R&B.
This New Jersey Pop/R&B quintet formed as "The Playboys" while still in high school, gaining prominence when they sang the school song, "Fair Eastside" in "Lean on Me". Changing their name to "Riff", Michael Best, Dwayne Jones, Anthony Fuller, Steven Capers and Kenny Kelly signed with SBK Records and released a self-titled debut.
After appearances on The Tonight Show, The Arsenio Hall Show, Soul Train-- just to name a few; the band toured with LL Cool J and Vanilla Ice and then released their sophomore album, "To Whom It May Concern".
Riff members Michael "Nitty Green" Best, Dwayne "Stylz" Jones and Anthony "Chill" Fuller, later joined Men of Vizion, an urban quintet that combined R&B basics of harmony and soul to produce a sound characteristic of '90s R&B bands.
Recently, Riff members Michael Best, Dwayne Jones, Anthony Fuller and Steven Capers have reunited and are back in the studio recording songs for their highly-anticipated return to the music world. Not only is there an upcoming CD release in the works, but the fellas will also be coming to a city near YOU. SOON!!! So, check back often for updates, the best is yet to come.
