Rico Monaco Band (a.k.a.Rico Monaco & Sol Sons) is a multi-award-winning Rock band with Latin and World influences from Orlando, Florida. With roots in New York City, Florida, Italy, & Puerto Rico, RMSS fluidly mixes Latin rhythms, rock, pop, jazz, and world influences to create a unique crossover sound. Their songs range from Latin rock/pop numbers that make you want to dance and sing along, to ballads, instrumentals, and Latin jazz jams that will stir your soul. Showcasing their world class musical talent and showmanship, members of RMSS have shared the stage with some of the biggest artists in the Latin and Rock world including Tito Puente, Sammy Hagar (of Van Halen), Bob Marley's Legendary Wailers, Smashmouth, Marc Anthony, Rascal Flats, Mongo Santamaria, Michael Anthony of Van Halen, Jon Secada, Café Tacuba, Blue Oyster Cult, The Pointer Sisters, Los Van Van, Loverboy, Sly & The Family Stone, Average White Band, The Fania Allstars, and Tito Nieves. They have performed to rave reviews in locations such as Paris, Mexico, New York, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Miami, Walt Disney Worlds Epcot Center, Hard Rock Live, and The House Of Blues. RMSS target audience includes Europe, Asia, and the Americas. They have received airplay on many different formatted radio stations and stood toe to toe with some of the greatest musicians of our time.
Rico Monaco, musical director/guitarist of RMSS, is highly regarded by many world-renowned musicians as an exceptional bandleader and onstage performer. As the bands principal songwriter, Rico is the producer of the four recordings RMSS has released independently. Their latest 2 disc special edition LIVE DVD & CD, "So Alive from the Sunshine State" (December 4, 2009), exemplifies the bands diverse crossover sound. This recording is "NO FRILLS" produced independently with NO PITCH CORRECTION, all guitar solos are LIVE except one, all drum tracks, bass tracks, percussion, and lead vocals are live! Very little editing and it definitely has a "live" feel and sound but that was the idea of this recording. It is not a typical "2010 Pro-Tools" fixed and created recording that is made perfect by engineers editing software. The DVD features 16 tracks of the band performing live in the studio, live in concert, and clips on the beaches of Florida. The CD features 15 songs. Brand new original material is mixed with classic RMSS covers of "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty, "Baila Morena" by world famous Italian artist Zucherro, "Hotel California" the classic song by The Eagles, and "Jingo" made famous by Santanta. Together with So Alive from the Sunshine State, the bands previous three releases (Rico Monaco & Sol Sons 13 song CD released 2001 and Ciao Bella Signorina 4 song EP released 2003, Luna Salerno 7 songs plus a 10 minute Enhanced Video Interview with Rico Monaco) evidence the development of RMSS unique style and cutting-edge direction. RMSS recorded sound is superb, but their live show on the big stage is where they truly excel. With the ability to expand from a core band of six (guitar, bass, keys, drums, percussion and lead vocalist) up to seventeen (including five-piece brass, female vocals, and dancers), RMSS has headlined in front of 60,000 people. They have also performed with and are available to perform with Tito Puente, Jr. as their special guest in a one-of-a-kind event that includes some of the greatest hits of the legendary Tito Puente, Sr. as the perfect complement to RMSS own hot originals.
