Rickylee grew up in Houston, Texas a product of 3rd Ward. He was a child determined not to let his environment or situation hinder him. As a young boy, at the age of 12, he became interested with Southern Style Rap Music. He fell in love when he heard The Ghetto Boys and The Fifth Ward Boys, because they were from the same city and he could relate to a lot of things they rapped about, dealing with being raised in the inner-city ghetto. After Rickylee expanded his horizons, he started to listen to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, in the early 90s. He can not forget about the Legendary UGK, with their Southern Style and Dialect. At this rate he began to love the art and culture of hip hop. At about the age of 13, Rickylee challenged himself, by starting to write and recite some of his own lyrics. As the years went by, Rickylee was still writing, but not taking his rapping seriously.

Growing into a young adult, Rickylee, attended the well known Jack Yates Senior High School. Where he struggled between the right and wrong ways of life. He was trying to figure out if he wanted to sell drugs or be an athlete. During these times, that was the only two role models for the African American young man, who grew up in a single parent home in the ghetto. Dealing with these times of life, he put his rapping and writing on the back burner. After getting into trouble for contributing to wrong doings, Rickylee then decided to take the athletic route. So he played basketball for Jack Yates Senior High School. Well, the basketball career didnt turn out the way he planned, so he started putting his focus back into his rapping.

Around this same time, the city-wide known Screwed Up Click, became very popular. This encouraged Rickylee to push his rap career to the next level. He started to promote himself and sell his self as a local rap artist, but due to broken promises and the lack of people wanting to help, he pushed even harder, by starting his record label Eyes On Tha Prize Records in 2001, around the same time he started college. He planned to make college, his back up plan, but once again his record label and music career took a back seat. So to compensate for him not working on his music, he tried to produce and groom other artist, so that he could focus on school and not being in the spot light. While going through trial and error, money differences, and artist who were not serious, he wasted lots of valuable time. But now, ITS TIME TO SHINE! He is producing himself, known as Rickylee a.k.a The H-Town Underdog. He calls himself the Underdog for all of the people counting him out and don't realize what he is about to bring to the rap game. Not only utilizing rap as a way of life but as a tool to build beyond it!
