Revolvo

Revolvo formed in december 1998 in Malmö, Sweden by Jonas Hultquist
(vocals / guitar), Peter Malmquist (drums) and Martin Olson (guitar).
Our first demo, recorded in world famous Tambourine Studios, was released on white vinyl on our own label that same year.
The single got some airtime on Swedish nationwide radio and created just enough buzz to give us a gig at Swedens largest music festival the Hultsfred festival.
In the audience was Fredrik Holmgren, the owner of the Swedish independent record label Startracks who commented: "- Someone should sign these guys!"
A few demos later Fredrik was convinced enough to offer a publishing contract with Startracks Publishing / Warner Chapell. A new demo was recorded with producer Tomas Skogsberg (Entombed, Hellacopters) also this recording was released on vinyl.
During the coming years we played at a lot of places in Sweden.
At one of them, the Emmaboda festival, we met producer and Fireside guitarist, Pelle Gunnerfeldt (the Hives, Peter , Bjorn and John). Pelle saw potential and offered to record a full-length album at his studio in Stockholm. After a couple of trips back and forth to Stockholm the album was finally ready in 2001.
A record deal was signed with Startrack's sublabel Background Beat and in February 2002 the debut album "s/t" was released in Sweden and Europe and shortly thereafter in Japan. Gigs followed in Sweden including opening to The White Stripes at KB in Malmö and The International Noise Conspiracy at Mosebacke in Stockholm.
After a long period of tours throughout Sweden, we started talking about recording a new album. This time by ourself. We started searching for recording equipment and suitable premises. Had found what we were looking for, the writing and recording process begun.
We wanted to steer the music into a different direction, simplify our ideas, yet give it more weight. We wanted to develop our sound and at the same time go back to where we started. The reason we started playing, our passion for music and love for bands such as Ride, Swervedriver and The Stone Roses. The result is our second full-length album. A more straightforward, raw and dark Revolvo.
