Through the evolution of extreme forms of music, NY has always been an area prominently known for producing bands with a particular, yet unique sound. Revenance has followed suite for going on nearly a decade, leaving behind them an easily recognizable path of destruction, primarily due to their wild antics and dangerously violent live performances.
In some ways, they are following in the footsteps of some of the legendary seminal acts which originally emerged from their area, such as Suffocation, Internal Bleeding, Pyrexia, as well as other bands which have pioneered that "NY sound" and made its mark on extreme music throughout the world. In other ways, however, Revenance is pushing boundaries in their own way, experimenting with strange ambient sounds and odd time signature changes defining them as true underground pioneers, not to be thrown in and categorized with much of the new ultra repetitive "new school" death metal which we see so much of lately.
In 2004, Revenance released their debut full length album "Omen Of Tragedy" under permeated records which was met with rave reviews all over the world from underground zines and radio shows. Recorded by Joe Cincotta and Dan Kenny of New York's Full Force Studio (who've recorded the 2 most recent suffocation albums, as well as internal bleeding's onward to mecca, and numerous other reputable NY area bands) "Omen" pummels its listener with brutal, over the top beatdowns, debilitates them with blistering speed and technicality, and finally captivates them with infectious grooves and catches.
Since then, Revenance have shared the stage with many internationally renown acts such as Cryptopsy,Napalm Death and Despised Icon, and have been on several tours with similar up and coming acts such as Waking the Cadaver, The Partisan Turbine, Implosive Disgorgance and Without Remorse.
Revenance have also been writing new material, refining their sounds and breaking into new territories, just putting the finishing touches on their sophomore release, which will feature an intricate interwoven storyline reflecting on current and future world events in politics and economy, meticulously deconstructing the social hierarchy of modern society and, of course, pushing the envelope yet again, setting a new precedence for what true NY brutality is.
