Remix (re-miks') - different from the original, simply changing the dynamics to create a multifaceted, colorful, multidimensional and exciting young group.

Take everything you thought you knew about girl groups, and forget about it! This Urban/Pop group is richly filled with four part leads and harmonies delivered with a Hip Hop presence and Latino flare. Yes, they do it all.

When you meet REMIX—best friends Melrose, Rita, Jordan and Kim and after watching/listening to their performance, it will shock you to learn that they are teenagers and they do their own choreography!

While they may be just teenagers, these young ladies have shocked producers and record label executives with their professionalism and how quickly they are able to prepare for any situation.

Songs like “Cinderella” co-written by REMIX, introduces their fun outlook with nods to pop, hip-hop, r&b and the way that “every girl needs to just cut loose” says Rita. The track was produced by D’nali of D&A Music.

One listen and you realize this is no manufactured, teenybopper, bubble-gum group, but a group whose music can appeal to all ages. Mel and Kim met at their Community traveling music program. While they are not close in age, they were able to connect through their love of music. Rita and Jord are both dance majors at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. They use their real life experiences to co-write music with lyrics that real people can relate to.

When asked how long they’ve been performing, Mel quickly laughs, “We came out of the womb singing,” who cites The Spice Girls as an influence.

Adds Kim: “The past two years have been so amazing. We’ve learned so much, grown so much and become so close. I always wanted a sister and now I have 3!”

“We try to keep our mind open to everything,” explains Jord. “We have such an eclectic sound….one song can be a hard hip-hop beat with a rap in it and the next will be a pop song with a techno beat while another could be a smooth r&b with a soulful sound. I love it!” “We want to be known as serious artists,” nods Mel.

Even before going into the studio to record their debut album, REMIX has been making a name for themselves, singing their incredible version of the “Star Spangled Banner” at a variety of sporting events along with a “showcase” of their original songs they put together and performed at various clubs, parties, showcases and community events. They’ve done shows all over the East Coast; some of their favorites were performing at the Pumpkin Festival in Kim’s hometown, bringing the house down at the Iguana Lounge in NYC and performing at the trendy club Maxine’s in Trenton, NJ. The girls will soon be on tour around the Country.

Although Mel, Kim, Jord and Rita are clearly on their way to stardom, they are careful to maintain the fact they’re still normal teens. Perhaps their only vice is shopping and maxing their parents credit cards at stores like H&M, 5-7-9, and Charlotte Rouse.

“It’s important for us to be role models,” says Mel. “We want to set a good example for teens in our age group.”

“Our thing is no drugs, no alcohol, no serious boyfriends, and honestly….we only go to parties or clubs if we’re performing,” adds Rita.

“We’re so tight that we make sure to keep one another grounded,” says Jord. “We have strong families and great parents. We do our own laundry and fold our own clothes. We’re still normal kids. But this is something we’ve always wanted to do. And we’re not going to stop until we’re old enough to retire!”

“We want kids our age to know that you’re never too young to dream,” encourages Kim. That dream has been nurtured through years of hard work and the girls are not afraid of it. “We even sit around sometimes on our sleepovers and just talk about all of the positives and negatives that we go through. It’s so great to have these girls to go through life with. I couldn’t imagine it any other way,” adds Rita. “We knew this was going to be a ton of work when we started,” says Mel. “But we know it’s worth it.”

As for future goals, Jord admits: “We want to be bigger than Michael Jackson. We want everyone in the world to know who we are.”

With their upcoming debut album, REMIX has taken the first step on that path.
