Cantata "The Dream of the Red Chamber"《

Prologue 《

Long ago,
When the sky collapsed and the earth flooded,
The Goddess of Creation melted down
A great quantity of rock to mend the cleft.
The building operation went so well
That the order of people's everyday life was re-established.
But one rock was left un-used on the ground.
Having undergone the molding of the Goddess,
It now possessed magic power
To think and to feel.
Sorry for its eternity of longing,
A monk and a Taoist brought it down
To the humane world to learn the lesson of love.
When it finally concluded the trip,
A few words—
A fable was engraved upon its body and soul
With tears and blood of a lifetime.

When first the world from chaos rose,
Tell me, How did love begin?
What would love compose?
The wind, the blossoms, the moonlight, the snow...
And this Dream of Red Chamber,
That my grief for the lost golden days may disclose.
