Firewater is an international collective which draws musical and lyrical inspiration from around the globe. The group was formed in 1997 in Brooklyn, USA, by writer, ringleader, and mouthpiece Tod A. Now we call everywhere (and nowhere) home. We have never looked back.

Firewater believes that music can be more than wallpaper, that lyrics can express more than hot air, and that emotions honestly conveyed can overcome the superficial differences between people often imposed by borders, politics and language. Firewater believes in the undying energy of punk rock - wherever it may be found.

We are optimists in a pessimistic world. We celebrate weddings, and births, and funerals. We fight for the freedom to travel, to create, and to breathe. We want to live until we die. We hope you like our music and our message. Feel free to dance.

Firewater in Its 'Golden Hour'
Press

"Firewater's most compelling record yet. A funky, furious bouillabaisse of fuzzy Gypsy-punk guitars, tart Bollywood strings and throbbing hand-drums." — Time Out, New York

"So lively and rambunctious it makes you want to run away and join Firewater's multicultural circus on the spot." — The Stranger, Seattle

"A longtime world-punk favorite…exuberant but profoundly seedy, hard-nosed, and sardonic.once again perfectly balances the catchy and the cynical." — Rob Harvilla, Village Voice

"Now more of a multicultural force than ever. The material crackles with exoticism, while keeping Tod A's wry insight and punky swagger." — Alex Smith, New Yorker

"Melodic Eastern European-flavored gypsy rock, Indian and Middle Eastern percussion, hypnotic sarangi solos. the album is a biting travelogue, the rantings of a surly castaway among the noble savages." — New York Magazine

"Some seriously exotic magic was created, proving, yet again, that Tod A is one of the most criminally under-appreciated artists in the American undergroundhis finest hour." — No Depression

"Vibrant and unpredictable." — New York Times

"The combination of global rhythms, political lyrics and Mr. A's growling vocals suggests that we might just have found an artist who can pick up where Joe Strummer left off." — Gallagher Parkinson

"A superb, disturbing slab of desperation and creativity." — Andy Whitman, Paste Magazine

"After a decade of fascinating ethnic music hybridization, The Golden Hour is Firewater's aptly named benchmark album." — Cleveland Free Times

"Firewater's angriest, most poignant and most accomplished music." — Allmusic.com
