Originally Christian Nolf's solo project (ex-Sexytiger, Belmondo, André), Raymondo was born in september 2002 with the arrival of Boris Gronemberger (Grinberg, V.O., Françoiz Breut, Grandpiano, etc.) and Cédric Castus (Grinberg, V.O.). Aurélie Muller (bass, clarinet) replaced Lobke d'Hespeel in 2005.
Raymondo released its first 8-track album in March 2004, recorded in Brussels by Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid, and producer of the first albums of Windsor for the Derby, Bedhead, etc.). Two years of intimate and bigger concerts followed, in Belgium and Luxembourg, sharing the stage with i.a. Arab Strap, Stuart Ashton Staples (Tindersticks), Archive, .
The second album "River into Lake", featuring 12 new songs, was released in Belgium in october 2006 on Matamore Recordings and received very good critics from both french and dutch speaking Belgium ( matamore forum )
and reached high rates in many 2006 top albums. More European (France,.) and extra European (Taiwan,.) releases will follow.
Raymondo's music, its soft ballads wavering between bossa nova and a pocket sized post rock, should please fans of artists and bands such as Nick Drake, Talk Talk, David Grubbs, Spain, or the Sea and Cake, as well as lovers of melancholic sunny atmospheres.
