Aufnahmen von neuen Songs
Dass wir gerade die Bühne vernachlässigen, hat folgenden Grund: wir gehen ab morgen in die berühmten Nalepa-Studios (wo Künstler wie Seeed, Till Brönner u.a. aufnehmen), um zwei neue Songs zu produzieren und zu recorden. Wir freuen uns auf diese Session und versorgen Euch hier mit Infos und Fotos.

We have worked hard on it, we took all our courage, we borrowed from friends and family, we founded our own label, got an LC, ISRC, EAN…, we deployed professionals (such as the one mastering Peter Fox’s album), we had already some ups and downs and we now believe to be able to present to you with all our pride our new album.

.brechen aus! Mit ihrem Debütalbum zeigen die acht Berliner, wie Kulturen, Musikstile (Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae, Salsa, Soul, Ska) und verschiedene Sprachen gekonnt vermischt werden können, ohne dabei Authentizität zu verlieren. Durch ihre ur-Berliner aber auch palästinensisch-griechisch-ägyptischen Wurzeln verkörpern sie wie keine andere Band das aktuelle Berlin. Mit ihren selbstproduzierten Vorgänger-EPs („Zeitzeuge“ und „Ich wollte Weltretter werden“) haben sie sich als Lokalmatadoren und Livegrößen (Soloshows im vollen SO36, Tränenpalast, etc.) etabliert. Ihr Debütalbum bläst nun zum Angriff auf das schubladenorientierte Establishment. Sanft und hart vereint Frontfrau Mariam in ihrer Stimme die Melancholie arabischer Gesänge mit dem Temperament einer waschechten Berlinerin und verhilft damit dem männerdominierten Genre zu ungeahnter Vielfältigkeit. Die Melodien bleiben im Herzen, die Grooves in den Beinen, die Texte im Kopf. Das erkannten nicht nur die im Schnitt 500 Zuschauer und internationale Bands wie das New York Ska Jazz Ensemble und die italienischen Reggae-Ikonen Banda Bardo sondern auch Radio Eins. Rascasse gewann den Radio Eins Planet Pop Wettbewerb und spielte u.a. mit Max Herre und Jazzanova. Dies zeigt in aller Deutlichkeit: Rascasse ist die Band, auf die sich das Nicht-Elektro-Berlin gerade einigt.

RASCASSE in Palestine
After concerts and tours in Germany, France, Ethiopia and Poland, RASCASSE headed to Palestine in October 2009. Two shows in Taybeh and Ramallah and some days to discover the Westbank left unforgettable experiences. Janek came with us to document with more than 10h film material and 600 fotos the little tour. Rascasse live on PLANET POP FESTIVAL of radioeins!
Yeah, we won the RadioEINS Music Video Contest! So, on the 12.09.2009 we were able to perform on the mainstage of the big Planet Pop Festival with acts such as Fetsum feat. Cassandra Steen, Frogg, Max Herre, Jazzanova feat. Paul Randolph.
