Rah Fontaine first stepped onto the rap scene in 1994 equipped with a name so unique it demands attention. Although often mispronounced and questioned for its meaning, just like the name, the talent and the man are hard to forget once properly introduced. Originally from Cleveland, Mississippi, service in the United States Marine Corp led the lyrical genius to Jacksonville, North Carolina. While stationed there, in 1998 Rah Fontaine along with fellow artist and friend, Gada created Who Want It? Records®. The label was created with the primary purpose of being able to record and distribute music independently. One of the main goals was to build a diversified entertainment company capable of producing enough revenue to become a positive factor, not only in the surrounding communities but worldwide. The label was initially home to nine (9) solo artists. Based on the high demand created by the community established by released projects, Fontaine earned the interest of several major recording labels. Even so, he made the decision to stay with the company he had started and to remain an independent label. The label saw profound success in North Carolina but unfortunately was disbanded in 2002 once Fontaine and Gada returned to their home states. Following his relocation to Jackson, Fontaine continued to record and perfect his craft. Initially Fontaine joined forces with Causin Drama Entertainment®. While associated with the corporation Fontaine was featured on “A League of Our Own” mix-tape and “Reese Ree's Mix-tape Murders 2”. He later released “The Chronicles Vol. I” with Causin Drama Entertainment®. Outfitted with immense knowledge and profound word-play, Fontaine grabbed the interest of and was signed to Sucka Free Records®. Under their direction he made several appearances and recordings, some yet to be released. In 2005, “It's Just That Serious Mix-tape” hit the scenes solidifying Fontaine as one of Mississippi's best lyricists. It was then that he took notice to the lack of widespread support for the majority of local artists by radio and club disc jockeys. Realizing that the future of Jackson's hip hop scene rested in the hands of the very artists that were now being forced to “find love” in outside markets, Fontaine once again opened the doors of Who Want It? Records® on July 29, 2005. As part of a joint venture of Who Want It? Records®/Causin Drama Entertainment®, the “Takeover Volume I” was released. This was to be followed by a feature on “Jewman Mix-tape Series”, Queen Boyz “Get Ya Weight Up” album, Kamikaze's “Franchise” mix-tape, and the release of “Street Fame Vol. I” from the Who Want It? Records® label. Shortly after establishing a connection with Face to Face M.E.G.® based in Atlanta, Georgia, Fontaine embarked on a FYE® in-store tour and saw his single “Watch Me Walk” debut on two separate Billboard® Charts in April of 2007. The single entered at number eight (8) on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales and at number forty-nine (49) on the Hot Singles Sales Charts. In November of 2008, Fontaine’s singles “What You On” and “Gotta Make It” were featured on Struggle Wear® “Grind or Go Home Series 13: Yes We Did” commemorating the historic election of the nation’s first African American President. He also released the single “Ride”, the first single to be solely recorded and produced at Who Want It? Records®. Once again his unique voice and style grabbed the attention of radio On-Air personality Mista, and debuted on Hot 97.7®. Strong fan support and requests continue to keep the song in rotation. 2009 commands the releases of “Street Fame Vol. II” and the highly anticipated debut album “Boss Movement”. According to Fontaine, "…Success is achieved by talent and commitment alone. How an artists sounds on the mic, his ability to construct songs, and his commitment to do that CONSISTENTLY is all that matters…" It is Fontaine's demonstration of this type of commitment that has catapulted him from being an artist to a C.E.O. and that has taken Who Want It? Records® from just a recording label to the multifaceted Who Want It? Enterprises®; now comprised of a Record Label, Recording Studio, CD/DVD Duplication Service, and Consultation Service.
