Overview:
Welcome to Radio-Active-Music.com, the home of the best in indie glam, goth, industrial and synth rock! We are an indie record label and distribution network in the Washington DC metro and surrounding areas, founded in May 2004. Radio-Active-Music.com is home to artists such as 23RAINYDAYS, Hopeful Machines (side project of Ego Likeness), Third Realm, and XUBERX.
Current Status:
As of March 2009, label submissions are currently closed! We may be reopening spots for new acts later this year. Thanks for your interest!
For longtime fans of Radio-Active-Music.com, you will be noticing many changes on the Radio-Active-Music.com website over the next three months. The reason is simple: in September 2008, I announced that RAM will be reprioritizing its commitments to the music scene, and will be focusing its efforts primarily on the rapidly expanding label and distribution network.
As of January 2009, all of Radio-Active-Music.com's live event promotion in the DC/Baltimore area will cease. (Aside from the notable exception of our annual production of Nuclearfest.) We've had a wonderful time over the last few years to be involved with such incredible companies as Midnight and Strangeland Records (to name a few), but we've decided to scale back on local promotion to focus on more global aspects of the goth/industrial scene. I personally thank everyone who has attended our events in the past, and the company will still be out and about in the capacity of a vendor and supporter in the future.
With that being said, we are now working on expanding our contacts. If you are a venue owner or promoter and would like to book Radio-Active-Music.com to vend or one of our artists to perform, please let us know. We are actively scheduling release parties for our upcoming albums, too. Radio-Active-Music.com is also expanding the distribution network, and is looking to make connections with other artists and labels interested in carrying our releases, or having our network carry their items.
Finally, be sure to check us out at our many online profiles, including myspace, Vampire Freaks, or even my new Twitter account for the very first news coming from the label and music scene!
Thanks again for almost five years of support. We've got a special surprise in store for our anniversary, so keep your eyes open for that. More goodies are on the way; keep supporting good music!

History
Radio-Active-Music.com was founded by Laura Hofford, aka DJ Valdyr - a name that anyone immersed in this side of the industry may be familiar with. While her start in the entertainment business came through theatre technology and design (BA, Theatre Arts - Virginia Tech, 2004), she has broadened her range to include a wide variety of artist support, including, of course, music promotion.
As fate would have it, she landed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity during college in becoming an intern for D1 Music Network, an independent record company founded by Jay Gordon of Orgy. During her time there (and she still helps with D1 to this day) she gained experience in online DJ'ing, band webdesign, A&R, and eventually went on to be the editor for the journalism staff. While working for D1, she was introduced to Fluffy Starr, and had the opportunity to design and maintain her website for three years. As time went on, Valdyr has had the opportunity to design for other bands such as Dead Sexy, Redrum, Lani, and Alienhead.
But her interest in band promotion didn't end with web design. The excitement she had gained in working for D1 had expanded to a point where she felt the need to take indie band promotion to the next level for electro/industrial bands. And so Radio-Active-Music.com was born in 2004 as a way to help bands in this area of music get ahead.
Over the next few years, Valdyr continued her theatre work, and also supported several other music-related businesses. For several years, she served as the online promotions coordinator for Electricult Records - an indie label in Australia (with distribution through MGM) founded by Manek of Dead Inside The Chrysalis. She is also worked as the head of promotions for Strangeland Records - a hot indie record store in the Washington, DC metro that specifically catered to electronic, industrial, metal, and punk music for most of it's 2-year run. And from July 2006 through December 2008, she was the associate promoter / booking agent for Midnight - DC's largest and longest running goth/industrial night currently in operation.
As Radio-Active-Music.com has grown, the site has evolved to include several other staff members and freelancers to help with the increasing needs of the bands and the community. All of the staff members of the site have extensive backgrounds in promotion in these genres, and are joined by an ever-growing street team who is promoting Radio-Active-Music.com and its artists all over the world.
Radio-Active-Music.com was initially located in southwestern Virginia, but relocated to Washington DC in 2005. Radio-Active-Music.com has sponsored and produces countless shows at venues all over the area, from small instores to large festivals, working with brand new bands to national artists. And though Radio-Active-Music.com is moving in a direction focusing mostly on the label & distribution network, the company hopes to continue to support all up-and-coming artists, both local and national.
