Quest for Fire

In the beginning the blackness of space was all that existed. That and an infinitely dense piece of infinetely dense matter which stored infinite energy and heat. Time and the laws of physics as we know them had no meaning. Then God made that singularity explode with such power that no mortal could understand. The matter was spread throughout the universe at dizzying speed. As the spread slowed, quarks formed electrons and protons and neutrons and all of the other particles we now know. Then they began to come together to make the most basic of atoms. Then molecules. As billions of years passed, more and more molecules came together, creating there own gravitational pulls and therefore bringing more molecules together. One of these molecule balls became the sun and another one of them that eventually orbited that sun became earth. For millions and millions of years the earth was only made up of rocks and water and crap. Then there came life. At first it was just single celled organisms. These organisms evolved unfathomably slowly until creatures that we would call fish were born. As more and more water dried up, these "fish" finally moved from the water to roam the earth on land. For another long time animals emerged and became extinct, constantly evolving, but never knowing the intelligence that had been attained by more quickly evolving beings from further reaches of space. These being evolved so much more quickly that they had mastered space travel before anything on earth could even fashion a wheel or lever. One species of these creatures (we know know them as "greys") set off on a journey through space to enlighten animals from other planets. Meanwhile, the most intelligent beings that the Earth had produced were something called monkeys. They were still fucking idiots but they had social structure and could create very rudimentary tools and weapons. One day the greys' craft landed on earth. The monkeys were scared but intrigued. Then the greys started fucking the monkeys, for this was their divine mission. By the time the aliens had left, the monkeys had bore children - the first generation in what was to evolve to become man. These monkey children were still ugly and slow-witted, but they had the capacity to care about things on a more abstract level than simple survival. They quickly invented the wheel and right before the aliens left they showed these neanderthals something that would change the course of the earth's history forever ----- fire. As generations of new, more advanced humans were born, they learned to steal fire from nature and to protect it. Fires would stay within a tribe for dozens of years. Fire became life - it provided warmth, light, and means to create new tools and weapons. Eventually man became tired of constantly guarding over the fires, tired of whole families dying whenever a fire would go out. The smartest tribes of neanderthals put all their intellect towards that task, and eventually invented a method to create fire from thin air!!

Meanwhile, another being from beyond our galaxy lurched through space. This creature was older than the greys - in fact, older than any other being in the universe. This creature was a lesser god - a great old one - he was . Cthulhu! Cthulhu arrived on earth a few thousand years after the invention of fire creation. Man had evolved to be able to create fire without any trouble, he was skilled at creating all sorts of usefull weapons and tools, and the social structure of human tribes was ever more intricate. However cthulhu was to provide man with intellect beyond simply surviving more easily. As humans came to worship the squid-dragon creature as a god he taught them to have passion. Humans began to create art, and to have raunchy sex, and to take pleasure in killing other animals, even in killing other humans. When the stars fell out of alignment, cthulhu sunk beneath the pacific ocean to slumber, and the orgy of killing and sex on earth was subdued, but not totally forgotten.

then nothing that big happened for about 10,000 years.

then in the year 2004 an earthquake rose cthulhu to the surface for a small window of time. his psychic commands caused many artisans and porn stars to go mad. but four lucky people were able to understand and embrace his commands. These people - matt, eric, mary and tom - came together to create the most visceral and telling music that humanity has ever known. combining all forms of music - from the tribal folk that was created in the caveman days to sweet thrash/grind - the band quest for fire has been changing peoples lives and swaying them toward cthulhu's goals for about 5 months now. although humans conquered fire long ago, fire is a metaphor for the next step in the evolution of man, a metaphor for the next stage in enlightenment which will reveal secrets of our mysterious universe that our former selves could never have imagined. only the most daring human spirits of our time will have the capacity to join this quest. willYOU?????
