Im not really setting any specific goal. Im just doing music and Im gonna take it as far as it goesbut I think Ill always be involved in music even if its not rhyming. Just to know that somebody in South Africa is feeling my musicIts part of my life.

Well, when your parents were singers in Detroit, your uncle is a jazz artist, and your cousin is producer J Dilla, music must be in your blood, as is the case for rapper Que D.

Initially know for being one of Slum Villages back-up dancers in the early 90s, Que D decided that he was going to take his career into another direction. In 1993, he became more serious about rapping and formed a group with other local Detroit rappers. The group broke up 2 years later, so Que D began working on his solo career with SVs T3 as his producer. After proving that he was serious and had the talent to further his career, his cousin Jay Dee jumped on board to produce Que Ds first EP, which featured Quite Delicious and Still Bangin. With Jay Dee behind him, Que Ds buzz grew and he was hit with a number of 12 inch opportunities from Fat Beats Distribution, Londons Pisces Entertainment, Paris Chrono Wax Records, the west coasts Ohm Records, and Japans Above Records.

By 2003, Que D had built a name for his self internationally, but decided to take a hiatus on his own projects in 2004. As always, Que D was working with Slum Village in the studio, writing hooks like Trinity: Past, Present, and Futures 2nd single Disco, and he was also doing back up vocals and interludes for both Trinity and Detroit Deli.

Now in 2005, Que D is back in the studio working on his next album featuring production from B.R. Gunnas Black Milk. With influences like Rakim, LL Cool J, Cool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, N.E.R.D., Coldplay, Stereolab, Radiohead, Ronie Size, Miles Davis, and much more, Que D is continuously broadening his musical sound. And because he is drawn to live instrumentation, he is also expanding on his drum and upright bass skills.

In the meantime, Que D can be found at home in the D, with his musical family consisting of Slum Village, Frank and Dank, Phat Kat, and B.R. Gunna.

So stay tuned folksthe next white label is coming to a country near you.
