KINGS OF SAOLNE

The Pupa Bajah & Baw–Waw Society crew attended the Government Model Secondary School in Freetown and they all attained the GCE Ordinary level. Pupa Bajah says it was during their school days at the Government Model that they became hooked up to each other, a relationship that was engendered by their strong love for music. This symbiosis was brought about by one of their ‘main man’ Yusufu Conteh, who at the time served as an inspiration to them collectively

Since the emergence of Pupa Bajah and the Baw–Waw Society in the Sierra Leone music scene, they recorded huge successes in terms of wealth generation and laurels. Even though they could not divulge how financially strong they are at the moment, it is obvious that Pupa Bajah and the Baw-Waw Society are now above the standard of their former street life. It is also obvious that they’ve turned their names into house-hold icons. Between 2004 and 2005 music season, they captured three awards during the prestigious Celtel Premier Media and Cassette Sellers Awards. Prominent amongst these awards was the first prize for Hip-Hop and Rap, a category which is an obvious domain for the group

As they remain a house-hold name locally, Pupa Bajah and the Baw Waw Society have started plying their music and extending their influence to other parts of the world. Since the release of their latest album, "Fertilizer" the group has made several trips across Africa and in Europe on the invitations of their growing fans in the diaspora.

They are seeing this as a messianic move, selling Sierra Leone music and culture to the world. "We are putting Sierra Leone on the world music map. We want the peoples of the world to know that Sierra Leone has talents that are can as well positively turn the world round

With these recorded successes, Sierra Leoneans and indeed Baw-Waw Society fans around the world are awaiting what the group has in store for them for the 2005/2006 music season. Pupa Bajah assures, "As usual, it is going to be electric and even more scintillating."

During 2008 Bajah And The Dry Yai Crew Were Signed By Modiba a New York City-based independent record label, production company, and music publishing company focused on international artists and social activism.

Bajah + Dry Yai Crew Have Won Various Awards in Sierra Leone And The Disapora And Are Now Will To Break To International Market.
