PUNK ROCK VATOS formed out of the ashes of two seminal Los Angeles bands, CHEMICAL PEOPLE and FLOWER LEPERDS. when playing shows together, certain members would hang out and discuss how great it would be to join forces since many weren't happy in their current situations. around the same time that guitarist Jaime Pina was kicked out of DOWN BY LAW and quit the CHEMS, FLOWER LEPERDS had split up so FL bass player Kenny Ochoa and Jaime enlisted drummer Rick Garcia (later to join B-MOVIE RATS) and booked a show at the Coconut Teazer. they hadn't thought of a name yet so booker Doreen Sanchez named the band PUNK ROCK VATOS. over the years members have included Pat Hoed of NIP DRIVERS, Travis Johnson of THE DICKIES, Tony Fate of THE BELLRAYS, Jason Greenwood of BULEMIA BANQUET, Josh Spincic of END ON END, "Drumstick" Vic Vega of CAP'N GEECH AND THE SHRIMP SHACK SHOOTERS and Rikk Agnew of ADOLESCENTS/CHRISTIAN DEATH just to name a few.
