Procession Came Opposite has always been about creating songs through honest hard work, to display thought provoking lyrics and structures that challenge how music is ‘supposed’ to be performed. Trevor Leonard (vocals, guitar) and Michael Fennen (bass, vocals) have been playing music together for well over a decade and have been best friends for even longer. The two grew up in Bucks County Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, where their passions for music developed into what would become their lives. In 1997 the two formed Procession Came Opposite with great friends from their neighborhood. Meanwhile, Sean Quilty (drums), also from Bucks County, had his own band, which featured the lead vocalist of Valencia. Procession Came Opposite played countless shows with Sean’s band, building their local scene together with high-energy shows. During these four years, Procession Came Opposite self-released two Eps, Self-titled demo in 2001, and Oceans in 2003. The band was honored to have a feature piece done on them for Wonkavision Magazine and a song from Oceans included on the Wonkavision Magazine Streets of Philly II compilation. After graduating from college in 2005, a time which was straining on the band, Trevor and Michael found themselves without a drummer. The band took a year hiatus to evaluate their goals and own desires. Knowing that nothing in the world makes these individuals happier than playing music, Procession Came Opposite soon reemerged in full force with long time friend Sean Quilty on drums. The three were powerful together and immediately gelled, completely focused on developing their own style of music based on melodic punk and psychedelic rock. Since Sean had grown up playing with and listening to Procession Came Opposite, the material from their two earlier Eps came naturally to him and made the lineup transition seem like the three had been playing collectively since day one. Procession Came Opposite continues to make a name for themselves through energetic and intense live shows and unique song structures. In 2006 they self-released their third Ep, Are We Getting Through? and have toured the East Coast and Midwest in support. Procession Came Opposite has currently finished writing and recording their new e.p. titled Pillars, which is scheduled for digital release July of 2008.
