"Following your dreams can turn into a world of reality." That's all Sidney Walker believed in as he began to pursue a career in music. Born and raised in Lake Charles, LA, Sid has always been influenced by music anything and everything he could get his hands on were and still are a major part of his creative mind. By the young age of 14, Sid really became interested in not only music music but the whole recording process too. After a brief stint at EMF studios taking lessons with Ken Turner, It was only a matter of time before Sid was inspired to be somebody in the music industry. Within a year Sid's main focus was to become an artist and proved it by paying for studio time on his own. BIG SID, as he would soon be known, learned at an early age "if you want something in life, you have to go get it on your own time."
At the age of 16, one of his mentors Derrick "D-Tone" Morris was the first to give Big Sid a chance by letting him perform at The 1st Annual Third Coast Music Awards. "I was one of the opening acts, performing in front of artists that I grew up listening to" explains Big Sid. "I performed the first two songs I ever recorded and people were just staring at me like who the hell is he??" "Still, all in all, it was a good opportunity for me because I was out there doing it!"
By the age of 18, after 2 years of performing and recording with other local artists, Big Sid began to focus on recording his debut album. Founding Playaz Choice Entertainment would soon be the moving force in Sid's caeer and in November 2003, he released SOUTHERN COMFORT. Big Sid would soon learn that the music industry was no walk in the park. Even with the supporting cast of Texas pioneers like Big Moe, Dj Dmd, D-Reck of Wreckshop, & Towdown, he was still hustling like no tomorrow. Big Sid sold 2,500 units of his first album and knew he had to move on. In 2004 Big Sid released the Exclusive Mixtape Edition of Southern Comfort (Screwed and Chopped) by platinum selling artist Paul Wall. "I must say that when I met Paul Wall and did business with him, I knew I was starting to make better moves. He wasn't on no superstar stuff when I met him, just real down to earth" explained Big Sid. Still making moves, Sid would go on to release the compilation Live from the South alongside Pat Ice in late 2005. The album had appearances from Trae, Paulwall, UGK, Magno, Grit Boyz, Max Minelli, South Coast Coalition, Chalie Boy, Lil O, and more.
After releasing the compilation, Big Sid took some time to focus more on himself and his label. As of 2009 Big Sid has appeared on over 45 mixtapes from around the country including Dj Rapid Ric, Dj Chuck Tee, Dj Explicit, Dj Grip, Dj Ryno, Dj Scrap, and many others, Throws the BEST shows in West Texas, and is still on his grind. Big Sid is currently working with The Lion's Den Recordings and E.A.R. out of Houston, TX on his new single STREETS LOVE ME FT. SLIM THUG and CHALIE BOY, so if he's not in the west then try and catch him in a city near you.
With already having a bright future in the rap game, BIG SID also throws the biggest and best concerts in West Texas by bringing Grammy award winning and platinum artists lik The Game, Chamillionaire, The Ying-Yang Twins, Paul Wall, Shwayze, DJ Unk, Lil Wil, Dorrough, Slim Thug, Chalie Boy, and many others. Who knows what the future holds for him, but we all know that he will be working hard until he is satisfied with the outcome. There's no question why the streets love him!!!
