Biography



Pilgrimz now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark but was first established in ‘98 on the isle of Falster. Inspired by the attitude of dirty rock ‘n roll, the aggressiveness and speed of hardcore and the heaviness of Scandinavian metal, Pilgrimz is here to bring new light and perspective into the international metal-scene. The many different vocal-facets from the characteristic, yet excentric lead-singer Max Vegas help the band to create a raw and unique expression. Roskilde Festival once wrote: “Pilgrimz are dirty like a mechanic's sweat cloth. Some critics have compared their rocking and rolling metal to a toughened up version of The Hives. But when listening to lead singer Max Vegas, you are also easily reminded of a Danish cousin to Pantera's Phil Anselmo.



After getting a lot of recognition during the demo years, the band decided to hit the road. Pilgrimz proved themselves as crowd-rockers when they in ’06 were nominated by Danish Metal Awards in the category “Best Live Act” along with Hatesphere, Mnemic and As We Fight. That year the band supported bigger international bands like Entombed and Enslaved. The live reviews spoke for themselves. A reporter from Metalized even went so far as calling Pilgrimz "The metal Hives"! Another wrote; "If James Brown had a metal band, Pilgrimz surely would be it!"



Roskilde Festival 08:



In early ‘07, the band signed a management deal with Rune Walther (Dream Fire Agency) and a serious preparation went down. The band entered the studio once more and recorded their first full length album entitled “Boar Riders”, consisting of 10 tracks produced Jacob Hansen (Mnemic, Hatesphere, Volbeat), mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen, Antfarm (The Haunted, Sick Of It All) In April ‘08 Pilgrimz inked a record deal with I Scream Records (Madball, Agnostic Front).



The debut was released 23rd June 2008 in Europe and the album received great reviews: Metal Hammer 8/10, Rock Hard 7/10 and Danish GAFFA (DK) 4/6.
Just two weeks after releasing “Boar Riders”, the band performed live at Roskilde Festival and continued the touring with MTV’s Headbangers Ball Tour, Loud From The South Festival, and the Danish expo, SPOT Festival.
In October the Danish Metal Awards announced that Pilgrimz was nominated on three categories “Best Debut Album”, “Best Live Act” and “Best Music Video” – the band won the latter and got another nomination from Danish Music Awards in the same category.



In late ‘08, Pilgrimz finally signed a worldwide deal with EMI Music Publishing and a booking deal with Kalle Metz at The Agency Group.
During the summer of ’09 Pilgrimz performed at Scandinavian festivals such as Hultsfred Festival, Sweden Rock, Metaltown, Ruisrock Festival, Putte I Parken Festival. In Holland the band appeared at Waldrock Festival and Rosrock Festival. Soon afterwards, Raised Fist and The Haunted picked up the band to support them on tour throughout the Nordic countries.
Currently, Pilgrimz is preparing to tour Europe in February 2010. The second album is in the making as well.
