Pilas started his dj career in 1997, while he was taking a BS in Physics at UAM University of Madrid. A great lover of music of all styles, his musical formation goes from Heavy Metal to rock and roll, hip hop, pop and of course dance music. Extremely demanding and critic, this dj and producer only plays tracks that really thrill the audience. His deep style, happy and mischievous at the same time, leaves no one indifferent. For Pilas, connection with the crowd is an absolute must. "You have to be ok with yourself to be partying with the others", he says. Narcissist but extremelly social, freedom rules the life of this poète maudit. Well away from hype and with a daring lack of prejudice, this Madrid native is able to mix the darkest of the electros with the happiest Slovenian folklore track if it’s necessary."Sky is the limit", he says.
When asked why he plays at Mondo, he doesn’t hesitate: "because it is the best club in Spain". And this said by somebody worshiped by artists like Ivan Smagghe, Laurent Garnier and Ellen Allien is quite a lot to say. Pilas takes the best from Luciano, Thomas Brinkmann and Green Velvet to build a suggestive and hypnotic set, full of beautiful rhythms and delirious sounds flowing into the best possible groove. The purest form of art. His changing and fresh style is able to stir up the most demanding crowd and drive them from the deepest melancholy to the most elegant techno, keeping always a magnetic funk full of devilish charm. This is why his mixes become genuine dance floor hymns. About his career, in 1999 he met Thomas Hartweger, capo of the label Pomelo, and together they stepped on a European tour which increased Pilas’ German influence. Bored of classical techno, he moved on towards pop, but in 2002, being worn out with this style and due to the influence of his personal friend Ricardo Villalobos, his most electronic side reemerged strongly. 2003 sees the start of his career as a music producer, becoming part of Net 28 collective with Alex Under, Damian Schwartz and Tadeo. Under Mupa and CMYK labels he has released a number of tracks and eps that have won him the heart of the international critics, and all of them have been qualified with the maximum score by top international music magazines like De:bug or Beat.
In these years, he has played at mostly every important club in Madrid and Spain and currently he has a weekly residence in the allegedly best club in Spain, Mondo (www.web-mondo.com). Moreover, he plays 4 times a year in Kille kill @ Berghain (Berlin) and Goa www.goaclub.es). Since 1998 he has taken part in the most influential parties and festivals of Spain. In the international scene, his gigs at Berghain (Berlin), Watergate (Berlin), Space (Ibiza), FIB (Benicassim), Nitsa (Barcelona), Arena (Berlin), SAMC (Buenos aires),Studio Martin (Bucarest) or Radost fx (Praga) stand out. For many people Pilas is now a living underground legend, known by his original and delicious style, intense and mystic and full of energy, lots of energy.
